I had a generally positive experience at Montana. You have to provide your own linen and use your own towel... standard hostel knowledge. The breakfast they provide is fairly good, but it gets PACKED with eastern European tourists. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

My wife and I stayed here on our last night in Norway and were generally disappointed. The room was probably clean enough, but was so dated that it felt dirty. No obvious issues in the room of course. The basement kitchen was a wreck (filthy) and we had issues with the washing machines while there. The upstairs kitchen was very... More

We stayed here for 2 nights, not consecutive. We arrived in Bergen on June 27th after our Norway in nutshell trip, and had to rush to the airport to pick up our car as the rental closes by 5pm. We drove back to this lovely hostel which has ample free parking and is set at the foot of the picturesque... More

This is a place to sleep. It's near some great hiking trails, but quite far from the city center, which is not ideal if you want to go out at night. I saw a lot of bad reviews for this hostel and the biggest problem for me was the other guests. The people staying here didn't clean up after themselves... More

Montana is in every way a discount place to stay, but if you just need a bed on your voyage through Norway, this is a good place to stay. It´s located on the mountain side, close to hiking paths and the cable car to Mount Ulriken. Rooms are clean but very simple, with no luxeries. Breakfast is low class: toast... More

Friendly Hostel with great staff, well run and conducive to meeting other travellers. Reasonable breakfast. Clean. Good areas for hanging out, and good kitchen. Only drawback is that it is a bit out of town and you need to catch 15 minute bus to get there (bus12-35NOK-covered by Bergen Card) but on the plus side its quiet with no trams... More

I absolutely love Montana hostel, it's just so well suited for travelers. Yes, the location is not in the city center - it takes 20-25 minutes to get there by bus, or 40 minutes walking. But I like that it's right at the bottom of Ulriken mountain, where many hiking trails start. Everything around is green and beautiful, and great... More

This is a budget accommodation, far away from the city centre but with public bus transportation to get there. So you will get a simple accommodation, where you can make a base to your fyords trip. Bergen is a nice city to visit. On the day of departure, as we were leaving early they gave us a pack of take... More

We stayed in Bergen Montana Hostel for two nights in August of 2014. We had a private room which included a bathroom. We paid NOK $1700 for those nights, which works out to about $130 per night in US dollars. Given Norway's exorbitant prices, that was a pretty good rate. This is what I liked about the Bergen Montana Hostel:... More

Great place to stay! most rooms are 4 bed dorms, plenty of space to move around! Free breakfast too, not too keen on the fishy foods, but the rest of it is all top notch! Communal showers but that's all good! Great common rooms and cooking facilities to feed yourself and with a supermarket just down the road, it's easy... More
