We recently spent 2 nights at Steen's and were not disappointed by the hotel. The hotel is beautifully decorated with antiques and is on a street that not only is quiet, but is opposite a small pond and park. The hotel is up a slight hill and around 5-6 blocks from the train station, about a 10 minute walk. The... More

Recently spent two nights at this hotel. We were a little concerned about booking here considering some of the negative reviews but we encountered no problems. In fact, we enjoyed our stay here. Yes, the hotel is uphill from the train station but it isn't that bad. It is a solid ten minute walk from the station. We had a... More

This hotel has no shower screen, only a curtain, so no matter how you try, the bathroom floor will be wet after your first shower. The walls are paper thin. The room is tiny, the tv is facing the other wall. People say it is cozy. Well, if you like all of the above, go for it. as for the... More

Lovely hotel in a peaceful location fairly close to the bustling centre. Friendly and helpful staff on the reception desk. Bedroom was small but fine. Really lovely sitting room/breakfast room with stained glass window, comfortable elegant furniture and free tea/coffee/hot chocolate available all day. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is not recommended to old people, it is located up the hill, but very close to the central station and old bergen. You can explore all the city by foot. In a few minutes you can walk to the harbour.

We paid about the equivalent of 140/night (euro) for a very small room with no view. We could hear the conversations of the people in the next room. The room was dirty. The Steens hotel is in a very inconvenient location.

We stayed at Steens for one night last week. We originally had a reservation at one of the large Thon hotels near the water, but my husband had read about Steens in the guidebook and called them at the very last minute. As it turned out, they had just had a cancellation, and we were in. The hotel is in... More

After reading the reviews (while sitting in the hotel in Bergen) I would say there is truth in most things written so far. You will hate this hotel if you are looking for big rooms and huge bathrooms. (Read American style). If you are looking for a cozy, clean hotel with fabulous staff close to everything in downtown Bergen, this... More

This is a really great base for a stay in Bergen. It is extremely popular and much loved and during high season is fully booked. We really liked the look of Steens from the website, but certain travellers' comments on this website made us slightly apprehensive. There was no need to be at all. It's a beautiful old building, dating... More

We stayed in Steens hotel in August. It is situated in a very central location in Bergen, across the lane from a pretty park- pretty at first until we noticed the drug users and people peeing in the bushes-we didn't bother them and they didn't bother us! We did see the police there a few times, all parties were very... More
