Bergen is located in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Such a town has hotels charging premium rates, but surprisingly few hostels with options for the backpacker. 'Marken Gjesthus' is THE place to stay, whether you're looking for a cheap room for the night or a family-friendly guesthouse. Situated two minutes from the train station and two... More

Bergen is a great city, and this place was pretty good. I got stuck in a 4 bed room with a really loud snorer, but thats not the hostel's fault (although i truly believe that anyone who snores should not stay in a shared room in hostels, because thats rude as hell, and hostels should ask the question up front... It's difficult to find affordable options in Bergen. I stayed at the 10 bed dorm and was unsure about my choice, but in the end I was pleasantly surprised. The place is very clean, everyone was very helpful and the location is great.

Loved staying at this hostel. It was a great location, close to the train station. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful and the room (a 10 bed dorm) was clean, comfortable and felt safe. There were plenty of showers and toilets and all were clean and well looked after. Lockers in the room meant I was able to keep... More

Friendly staff and a cute elevator. But the WiFi signal sucked, hobbled by excessive dropped connections, frequent slow page loads and downloads that dragged on and on. This occurred at multiple websites and while I used several of my digital devices. It was so bad I all but stopped using MG’s so-called WiFi until I moved on to my next... More

As I arrived to Bergen in the morning, I dropped my luggages first at the hostel and later went back for check-in, therefore I met more receptionists and I was amazed how friendly and lovely they were. Very knowledgable, helpful and smiling. The room and the common areas were very clean and the location is great for both the train/bus... More

I spent just one night here. It's not far from the train station in the city center of Bergen. The staff was helpful , nice and good English speaker. I stayed in the 8-bed male dorm. There are lockers for individual guest. The bed sheet and linen needed to be rent. However, the hostel entrance was under renovation.

It was not far from the station, then we met really nice receptionist, we accidentally paid an unnecessary extra room but can easily retrieve the money back. They have good kitchen where you can cook your own food and enjoy it with really nice view. Overall they have clean space. Totally the hostel you should go for in Bergen.

I spent two nights here over easter weekend 2014 and over all was very happy. The kitchen and lounge area facilities are great, if any of the supermarkets had been open it would have been perfect to make food. I slept in a large shared room and rented sheets each night. This was fine the first night, but I stayed... More

My family and I stayed here in May 2014. It was my first experience with a hostel and I could not have been happier. The unique entrance and age of the building just enhanced our experience and the staff and other guests were super.
