Overall our experience with the Thon Bristol Bergen was not great. The hotel is located centrally, although isn't in the "touristy" area by the harbor (3-4 block walk). We were in Bergen on an unusually hot evening, so our room was quite stifling (no air conditioning, as is often the case in Scandinavia). We had windows which opened up into... more
Ive stayed at this hotel numerous times over the last couple of years, even during its building work to upgrade. Id just like to comment on the other reveiws ive read here and add couple of my own . The hotel is an average price for a town centre hotel in Norway (nothing is cheap), its becoming normal not to... more
Well, so good news first, the hotel is in a great central location, right on the main shopping street in the city, and an easy walk from where the airport bus drops you off. The hotel is having so work done to it's outside, but there was no noise from the construction while we were in the hotel. Now the... more
This hotel is situated right off the main walking plaza, which we thought would be a great location. We were wrong. It was incredibly noisy! Bergen's youth like to PARTY into the wee hours. Incredibly noisy if you are in a room facing the street. Too hot to close the windows, and no A/C. Do NOT stay here in the summer; or if you do, do NOT stay in a room facing the street. Hotel staff was not very helpful. Very expensive and we could not sleep for either of our two nights there! more
My husband and I travelled to Bergen just before X-mas. We expected Norway to be very expensive, however we were pleasantly surprised by the rates and the quality Hotel Bristol offered. The public areas are very stylish and the rooms are nicely decorated (reception told it they had plans of rennovating the rooms to an even better standard in January!).... more
Good staff, good location, (great for walking around the city), restaurants nearby. But like everything in Norway, it was expensive. Our room was a bit stuffy in the evenings with no air conditioning. more
Great location, clean room. comfy beds All you would expect from a midrange scandinavian hotel. Breakfast is quite good though. more
After an express boat ride from Ballestrand my wife and I didn't require much from our room than a place to sleep and shower before jumping on the plane home. This hotel was unable to meet even these meager standards. I would like to preface this review by stating that I have stayed in hotels all over Europe from the... more
