We stayed one night on our Gohagen 5 day tour of Norway. The hotel view from the terrace and from our room was simply spectacular, looking down into a glacial gorge. The food was good ; buffet-style for dinner and breakfast. Be sure to visit the adjacent museum and historical cabin. Meander down the old road to see the 2... More

We took the bus from Gudvangen quay to the Stalheim Hotel on a lovely summers day. The trip up the hill takes around 15minutes cost £4 each return and whilst the views on the way are good, there is a long tunnel for a lot of the journey. The bus dropped us right outside the hotel, the last bus returning... More

The Stalheim Hotel has one of the most spectacular views in the world, down a glacial valley toward the fjord at Gudvagen. There is only internet in the lobby, but the view makes it hard to get any work done. We stayed there one night after arriving by ferry up the Nærøyfjord from Flåm and then the bus up the... More

We stayed for one night at Stalheim during a "fjord and mountain" round trip of western Norway. The views from Stalheim are stunning! I hadn't paid enough attention, so I was a little disappointed that we didn't have balconies, but the rooms were great! I liked that the rooms were not too standardized like modern hotels. The bathroom was clean... More

My husband and I stayed in room 329 for 3 nights in May 2014. We were in Norway for 10 days and doing the Norway in a Nutshell tour. You can do the tour in 1 day if you're strapped for time but we spent 2 nights in Balestrand (separate review) and 3 nights here. Getting There: On the tour... More

Despite what Rick Steves says about this being "touristy", it's very much a Rick Steves kind of hotel. The rooms are a bit odd and dated. The lobby is as eclectic as it gets--in a wonderful way! And the grounds and building are old, but wonderful. I think this was my favorite stay during our whirlwind tour of Norway. Yes,... More

If you happen to go from Oslo to Bergen on the "Norway in a Nutshell" tour, I strongly suggest to sleep overnight at Stalheim Hotel. The view from the rooms and from the outside terrace is simply astonishing: believe me, there are not many places in this planet like Stalheim. The hotel is definitely old-style and rooms may need some... More

Stopped here for lunch while on a road trip with our Norwegian friends. Lunch was great - the food was good and filling. But for me, the view from the back of the property was unbelievable! The distance, the height and the fact that the water was so clear you could see how clear it was down below was just... More

This hugely popular dowager hotel has both Nature and excellent management going for it. My room was quite conservatively decorated and somewhat staid, but immaculately clean and comfortable, having everything of what you could need for a pleasant stay - in addition to the breathtaking views in every direction. The dinner selections were beautifully prepared and displayed if you chose... More

Stayed three nights in junior suite 318 (top floor). Fantastic location with 5 star views of surrounding mountains and World Heritage valley below. Our room had large windows overlooking this great view. Very comfortable bed. Excellent dinner buffet/smorgasbord. Breakfast buffet average for a good hotel. Exceptionally helpful front desk personnel. Cons include inadequate room heater; we never got really comfortable... More
