This hotel must have one of the best views anywhere! It was fantastic to see the sunrise over the valley in the morning from our bedroom window. We had passed the hotel on the previous day as part of the Norway in a Nutshell tour, but enjoyed the area a lot more when we were stayed there. I think scenic... more

Without repeating the previous reviewers comments this is a truly spectacular location to stop at and explore the surrounding countryside. We were with a group of mainly english people on a HF holiday, the first time the company has ventured into Norway. We stayed a week and whilst the buffet was similar most nights it never became monotonous due to... more

We stayed here one night in august. The view was fantastic, and the hotel was very nice. It is many activities nearby. The Flåm railway is a short car-ride away. You can hike in the mountain, and see the wonderful views of Nærøydalen(listed in the UNESCO heritage list). On the hotel it is a museum with old houses and objects,... more

A friend told me I had to stop at the Stalheim if I were taking the Norway in a Nutshell tour. I did & she was right. Even to a Montanan used to spectacular mountain scenery, this was glorious. I was traveling solo, a female senior, on a budget so Norway in a Nutshell and specifically the Stalheim was my... more

We stayed here one night while doing Norway in a Nutshell from Oslo to Bergen. We arrived a bit after 6:00 and are so pleased that we chose this break in the trip. The people we had met on the trip were very jealous that we were getting to stay over at this hotel. The Norway in a Nutshell leaves... more

This hotel is all about the view. I'm not one to normally stay in tourist traps (which this is), but made an exception just to have a view like this. As always, ask for a room with a view (out the 'back'). This is your entertainment for the evening, as you can just sit and stare - sounds boring, but... more

If you are booking this yourself, please make sure you get a room at the "back" of the hotel, overlooking the incredible valley below. It's also quieter and you can pretend there are no tour buses. The rooms are plain but clean. But our huge window framed the most breathtaking view we've ever seen! We kept our window wide open... more

We stayed at this hotel on September 1st 2006 The view was stunning from the hotel, we also had the same view from the bedroom window, we didn't see loads of tourists buses stopping at the hotel maybe it was because it was near the end of season. The room we had was basic but clean and comfortable. we had... more

Stayed here as break in the Norway to Nutshell trip. Rooms are clean and very simple. This is not the place to go for lots of amentities, but if you know in advance that the rooms are plain, you won't be disappointed. Similarly, we knew that there would be buses of tourists periodically, so this did not bother us. At... more

It is true that the view is spectacular. If you decide to stay, there are a few things to be prepared for. First, EVERY TOURBUS passing Stalheim stops at the hotel and a few busloads of people are always in the lobby and on the patio, so it looks more like a little market than an idyllic getaway spot. Second,... more
