I read lots of horror stories on-line before I went, rough area around hotel, beasties in the beds, horrid staff, dirty rooms etc. To be honest I found the hotel okay, rooms was clear and larger than I expected. Room for two that I stayed in had a cooker and fridge. You can hire kitchen equipment for a small deposit.... more

- kitchen and toilet in each room, even we are staying in 6-bedded dorm - comfortable beds - kitchen tools to be rented at reception, have to face the staff again - BUT have to queue for half an hour before being served, just too many people with too little staff, and the staff are extremely rude - BUT the... more

i was delighted to find out that this hostel was located only 5 minutes from the bus station, but my delight suddenly turned to disgust when i realized that oslo's city center is a slum filled with poverty-stricken foreigners and thieves. i passed garbage cans over-filled with trash, people laying all over the street, cheap second hand stores, and dog... more

I did a bed reservation through Hostelworld for staying at Anker hostel on 3rd June 2009. However, due to some reason I can’t make it to Oslo and I have send an email to the hostel on 28th May (which is 7days ahead of the actual booked date) to inform them and one of the staff, Tom Erik replied my... more

It was average basically. My advice is don't hostel if you aren't prepared to rough it slightly. We went as a group of 4 but they put us in a 5-bed room (spare bed and worked out cheaper) which was nice of them. One of our group was given fairly old sheets but the staff changed them when we asked.... more

Bad, bad - very bad hostel! The photos on the website are lying - the place is terrible. You don't get what they promise you (kitchen equipment and chairs), and the room was dirty and shabby. The bunk beds were ramshackle more

I arrived off the Ryanair Glasgow - Oslo(torp) flight at around 5.30pm so by the time the coach got there it was around 9 o clock. Found my way there by asking for directions and the first response I got when I said that I was staying in the Anker Hostel was: "Oh... Anker... good luck - it is in... more

Location: The Hostel is located in the city centre. The area is ok. There is a tram stop pretty much outside, which is convenient. You can walk from the hostel, about a 10min walk into the main areas. Room: We stayed in a 6 bed dorm with friends. Cleanliness wasn't great, all a bit grimy. Most pillows & duvets were... more

This hostel wasn't spectacular. You could walk to most of the sites, but it wasn't very centrally located. There was a bus/tram station less than a block away, however. The hostel felt very grimy. There was some tagging (graffiti) in a stairwell, and the door to said stairwell consistently stuck and had to be shoved open. We stayed in dorm... more

We flew in to Oslo and stayed here for one night before going out to the Fjords and again one night before flying home. The location is good, easy walk from the central train/bus station. The first night we got a 6 bed room between the 3 of us which was nice except that all 6 pillows were disgusting. Even... more
