My mother and I stayed at the Clarion Gabelshus this summer. Our experience was wonderful. The hotel is located in what I would term the "Embassy District" of Oslo, so it is not within walking distance of the central train station, where we arrived. You can, however, take a tram to a stop just a block or so from the... more

This was an excellent hotel in a quiet and exclusive location. The hotel was a blend of turn-of-the century charm and modern artistic ambiance. The room was clean and comfortable. The food was excellent: a great choice of food from a scandinavian buffet at Breakfast and in the evening. You could also make your own waffles in the afternoon, and... more

A nice hotel, in an upscale quiet residential area at reasonable price in a very expensive Oslo. Free internet and complimentary evening refreshements, in addition to breakfast buffet. The twin room we got was ok but not that spacious. Everything could be better, however, if you are in Oslo, this is a decent place to stay. more

Nice stay… located in a residential area. About a 20 minute walk to downtown, Hard Rock Café, etc… good location. Watch which wing you are in, though. The main building is pretty old, and the rooms are Nordic sparse. Ask for a room in the newer wing. I was originally placed in the main building, but since it had no... more

Location: In a quiet, upscale, residential area of fine homes and apartments. Around the corner are Ambassador's residences. Two blocks from hotel is the convenient Number 13 Tram. Also two blocks to Bygdoy Alle, a nice shopping street. We loved this neighborhood! Hotel: Our room was a minisuite in the new wing. This was a wonderful room which was huge... more

We stayed here for three nights and found the hotel excellent. Our bedroom was in the annexe with a good sized bathroom and a view over the street one way and over gardens the other. It was clean, airy and a good size with a TV which had many European channels. The breakfast was very comprehensive with cold and hot... more

We were skeptical at first, found a pretty good deal through 'Norway in a Nutshell' and all reviews pointed to an outdated hotel outside the city center. The first night we stayed we had a great modern room on the first floor in the back which was absolutely perfect since we needed to have a quick nap and nice shower.... more

The hotel has a great location if you don't want to be right in the middle of all the noise and crowded Oslo. It is located in a residential street and it is very convenient to take the local tram to downtown only 5 minutes away. You can also walk to downtonw in 15 to 20 minutes. On the negative... more

The Gabelshus was our favorite hotel during our 10-day trip to Norway (6 hotels). The room was a little small, but compared well to others we encountered during our trip. The bathroom was small, but not the smallest we found during our trip. It cost about 100 Kroner for a taxi ride from National Theatre station to the hotel. The... more

We book this hotel through the Norway in a Nutshell tour. We were quite happy. It is not in the very centre of Oslo, but quite easy to reach on foot (without luggage) or by tram. It is in a quiet nice quarter west of the centre and not far from the new area of the harbour (Aket brygge). The... more
