We chose this hotel for 3 reasons: we thought it is in a quiet neighbourhood but still close to the city centre; easy parking and the comfort of the hotel. Unluckily, only part of it turned out as expected. Easy parking: Yes, hotel has limited free parking spaces for the quests, which was very convenient if there is one available.... more

I took my mom to Norway and I didn't want your typical "city center" hotel. I found this and it was perfect. It's located on the west side, near the #13 tram route. Nice breakfast and dinner (complimentary). There is no restaurant per se. We found it to be a nice, personable place to stay. I'd definitely come here again! more

We have just returned from ten days in Norway, starting with four nights in Oslo staying at the Clarion Collection Gabelshus Hotel. The hotel is a charming building from the outside and, although it is a little outside the city centre is very conveniently placed. A very short walk to the tram stop gives access to a tram straight into... more

This hotel came highly recommended and we even changed our itinerary so that we could experience the Gabelshus. It was good, very very good and we dont hesitate to recommend this lovely, somewhat unusual hotel for a relaxed and convenient stay in the lovely city of Oslo. However, ladied be warned - what they won't tell you upon booking is... more

The hotel is located in an upmarket residential area a short walk from shops, restaurants and a cinema. We walked to the harbour area the first morning but there is an extensive tram, bus and metro system in Oslo which we used for the rest of our stay - the tram stop is only minutes from the hotel. Oslo is... more

It's pricey, like most Norwegian hotels, but Gabels hus (Gabel's House) was really a pleasant experience for me. It's located in a very quiet and posh street on Oslo's westside - 10 min. by tram to the central station. My room was quite small but stylish, clean and cosy. The only thing I really disliked was the glassdoor into the... more

We NEVER book half board or full board but the reviews of this hotel intrigued us in terms of there being a dinner buffet which was supposed to be good while the price staying reasonable. The hotel itself is great - just the right combination of smart, comfortable and interesting. The staff (and other guests) were not particularly friendly but... more

When we booked, the only room choice available was a twin, however when we arrived we we're offered the choice of a double, and even a choice of room with shower or bath. The hotel is located a tram ride, around 10 min's, from the centre of Oslo. It's in a nice relaxing location, in fact it's the Embassy district... more

Didn't really live up to my expectations. Rooms were clean but pokey and not to mention hot! Bathroom was minute and ended up flooding the bathroom after time I showered as the shower shield didn't close. Very poor lighting in there too! Enjoyed the afternoon waffles and coffee. Dinner buffer was average and service not great when wanting to order... more

We stayed for 5 nights in November 2008 after finding a great deal online and reading TripAdvisor reviews. The best thing about the hotel for me was the buffet breakfast and (free) evening supper. There was a wide choice of healthy organic food - breads, cheeses, eggs, various types or herring and salmon, salad, cereal etc. The only slight niggle... more
