We choose this hotel primarily as it was a family run hotel in central Tromso and not one of the big chain hotels needless to say we were not dissapointed. This hotel fitted the bill perfectly for our stay in tromso. It is right next to the rica hotel and radisson blu hotel where lots of tours leave from and right by the shops and restaurants. It was cosy and friendly and the staff were incredibly helpful. It felt like a much more personal hotel compared to the bigger chains.... More

The Amalie is situated in a very convenient location as you are so near to the main street and to the harbour. Many tours leave from the Rica hotel and that is only about 2 minutes walk away. We spent 5 nights at the Amalie in Tromso in February 2011. The hotel is very unassuming on first appearance, sitting as it does on a street corner next a newly re-opened Italian restaurant.
