Room: Got a large-sized room which didn't smell like cigarettes, free wifi and beds were quite clean. Hotel seems to be maintained in proper condition, apart from the fact that it's a little old. The hotel itself is located 15 minutes away from Stephanplatz by the U3 train, and a 5-10 minute walk from the Ottakring station. Service: After a... More

I have stayed at this hotel more times than I can even remember from working in Vienna. Its an 'ok' hotel, the staff can be quite abrupt, and the decor... Well I tend to call it fawlty towers... However it is within easy access to Vienna (15 mins on the underground) which is a short walk away, has 24 hour... More

Easily accessible, short walk from subway, and right across a bus terminal, but apparently not in a good part of town, but we didn't noticed it and didn't bother us. Room was fairly clean, but floors were not cleaned everyday. Staff is friendly. Hotel room felt a bit cramped. Room layout not the best. Noise from the corridor could be... More

If you have any respiratory illnesses you don't want to stay there. We had a nonsmoking room but the whole hotel smells of cigerette smoke. The bathroom had a vent so the cigerette smell would come up thru the vent. The hotel needs a major makeover, rugs are worn and they have stains. The paint is chipping. We were supposed... More

I was staying there for a night because I had to catch the bus early the next morning, so I searched for the cheapest hotel in Vienna. I must say that the staff was really friendly and helpful and the breakfast was really nice as well, BUT my single room was full of sigaret smell which wasn't pleasant. All my... More

Quiet, well-maintained, pristine in its cleanliness, my room was more than adequate. The breakfast they serve for a mere 5 Euros is sumptuous -- too much so -- and the hotel is easily and quickly reachable from the Zentrum. People don't go out of their way to be helpful, but they will answer whatever you ask. My single room had... More

Affordable hotel with great connection to the old town. There is bus stop in front of the entrance. The hotel is old but clean and very calm. Breakfasts are standardly good. I recommend it for short term stay.

Don't expect anything extraordinary from this hotel. Don't blame yourself if you finally found yourself in there. This is more-less average hotel which gives you a bed, a shower and calm location. The good sleep is guaranteed here. We have stayed at 3-bed room with a very "extravagant" bathroom. Those who traveled much by Russian railways will find it similar... More

This one is pretty good. Everyday we had new towels, clean bad sheets and so on. Location is very comfortable if you are going take a transport during your trip. There is a busstop right in front of the main entrance of the hotel. The way to a tube takes 3 minutes. The only one minus is that my reservation... More

Nice affordable hotel. Very well located well connected with public transport. Hotel is clean and quiet. Very suitable for city break in Vienna. My only complain is on breakfast which should offer more choice.

Staying in Ottakring

Neighborhood Profile
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
