So we stayed in this place for one night which was more than enough. It's cheap with a lot of disadvantages. The room absolutely didn't look as on the pictures. I don't know if there's a wifi or no cos we didn't get any info about it. The breakfast is bread with the cheapest butter and jam from the corner... More

We made reservation in this pension because we liked it very much during our last visit a few years ago. This time it was a disappontment. The room was OK and the breakfast (buffet) was better than last time. The real problem are the people. We arrived before 10 AM, but nobody opened us. We had to wait until 2... More

Stayed here for 3 nights. It's located around 2.5 km from the center of Vienna (Stephansdom). You can get there by tram I think but I walked. The room was very big and clean , the staff ok but the one thing I did not like was that one day when we came in our room during the day some... More

Pension Madara is situated in a big flat on the first floor in old renovated building, no elevator.. We had a very big room with 3 beds (for 2 of us),overlooking the main street with bathroom inside the room, rather small, and no toileteries except soap. When you are in a big city like Vienna on a busy street you should... More

We arrived at the madara in the afternoon. He was checking many people in at that time, which was quite chaotic as we were all filling these forms in the he was processing everything quite slowly. the madara is set back from the main road in a communal block. So keep a good eye out for it. The room itself... More

Really big and clean, warm Room(number 2) Clean sleep sheets, big bed... Nothings special at breakfast, but for this price it is strange to wait for fresh orange juice or scrambled eggs :) Good location, 15 minutes by feet to Rathaus.

Pension Madara is a small bed & breakfast with very helpful staff. It is a close to the city cente (walking distance), with a tram stop nearly in front of the entrance, and many supermarkets and chemist's in just across or in the same street. I guess I was lucky getting room 5, looking onto a garden -- the other... More

It was probably the worst accomodation I have paid for in my life. The receptionist did not speak German well, so communication was a bit problematic. The room was dated, felt unclean. The worst part was the bathroom, which was a "box" inside the room with a toilet that smelled horribily and a shower that was just next to the... More

Large apartment converted into a guest house. From the station of U-Bahn "Alser Strasse" take tram No. 43 for two stops, just go a little bit back, near the flowers shop is entrance to the entrance hall. Guest house is on the first floor. In a triple room the bathroom is built into the sleeping room, so it is understandable... More

Considering how expensive accommodation in Vienna is, this is a fair choice for anyone traveling there, especially if they just need a place to sleep, shower and have breakfast. It's located in an old, run-down building. The guy at the reception was friendly. The room was ok and fairly clean, only the mattress could have been a bit more comfortable.... More

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
