Researched online and definitely seemed best value. However, rooms were way too crowded, (we were in a 20 dorm that should have had 10 max) some of the lockers were broken, nowhere near enough plug sockets. The toilets and shower were very good but again not enough (2 between 20). Also there was no atmosphere whatsoever quite a few older... More

Pros: great breakfast, starting early. Close to train station. High number of rooms. Great WC/bathroom facilities Cons: ZERO hostel spirit. No age limit so one might get called out to be silent at 11pm! only microwave and fridge, no kitchen. 30 min train ride to the center.

Stayed there two nights. Yes it's about 20mins by the U4, but it goes every 5mins! Apparently there aren't any ticket inspectors, but a 48hr pass for €13 euro is good considering the number of sights to see in Vienna. If you want to stay in the city centre, expect to spend more on accommodation costs. Hostel Hütteldorf is a... More

The closest station is on the last stop of the U4 line, and so will require a commute into the city centre, although public transport is decent in Vienna. Good if you are on a budget, but don't expect to be pleased in terms of the quality of the stay.

Very clean hostel, always saw people coming around cleaning making sure everything was working properly. Very loud place however, everything echoes, you have to make sure to close doors lightly otherwise they slam. Good continental breakfast, regular bread, cheese, meat, cereal, ect. Lots of groups with kids were staying here. It was loud with them there. Great backyard area, nice... More

Out of all the hostels I visited in Berlin, prague, Vienna, Venice and Milan, I think huttledorf was the best in terms of cleanliness and comfortability! The beds were great and fresh sheets were given to us directly to prove it's freshness! The toilet and shower was also brilliant. Clean and powerful shower, although it flooded the floors really easily.... More

If you are on a budget, or just don't want to buy a metro card, the location will be an issue. It's on the last stop of the U4 line which is about a 25 minute tram ride from St. Stephen's Cathedral and the main part of town. That being said, if you're in Vienna for several days you'll probably... More

It's a purpose built hostel, people just coming in and out, over four stories. Bus loads of kids were coming through and there was continuous thumping from above our rooms. The showers were utterly terrible, no shower head, pretty much just a water tap head with the strength of a fire truck hose. Atmosphere is bad, and they don't have... More

The atmosphere was great, mostly young people. Good breakfast is included, plus wifi works great. The rooms are clean and with good vibe. Some people say that the staff is not nice but I found them willing to help me and polite people. The cons are that it does not have a kitchen and the location. If you purchase a... More

Walking there was really scary felt like we were in a really bad part in vienna. quite a way from the city center we were only here for one day. bit pricey for the location. also going to the pub was a scary walk at night but the pub close by had the best beer i had ever had. also... More

Staying in Hietzing

Neighborhood Profile
Hietzing
Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the other half to discover the secret charms of this posh residential neighborhood. Sneak out of the gardens at Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down Hietzinger Hauptstrasse for Kaiserpavillon (Emperor’s pavilion), an Art Nouveau gem right on top of U4’s metro railtracks. At local institutions Café Dommayer and restaurant Plachutta you can mingle with residents, their families and friends. Dommayer has risen to fame since waltz king Johann Strauss and his orchestra performed there regularly. If you want to go beyond private villa gazing visit Klimtvilla and Hermesvilla. Art Nouveau genius Gustav Klimt had his last studio in a now beautifully renovated villa, which is open during spring and summer. Hermesvilla at Lainzer Tiergarten animal enclosure and nature park is a must for all romantics and fans of Empress Sissi.
