Very attentive. Good breakfast included. Helpful in us finding the places we wanted to visit. Clean. Safe. Places to eat close at hand. Across the street from University of Vienna. Close to Freud Museum, Viktor Frankl Museum, and shopping.

The hotel is not a 4 star by American standards but it's comfortable, clean and accommodating. I was looking for somewhere away from the tourist area and where I can park a rental car. They have an underground garage and are located in a nice neighborhood with cafes, supermarkets, a pharmacy and retail shopping within a block walk. Our room... More

We stayed at this pension for one night and it was worth it. Close to the city center, good price, comfortable rooms (big and clean), nice staff and fine breakfast. The receptionist suggested us some places where to eat and they were great. There's some noise from outside the window, but it all calms down after midnight when the tram... More

This pension is situated close to Vienna's inner city at a busy and noisy crossroad. Ask for a room not having a window at the front of the building. It is easy to get there, even from the city center and the airport. The staff was perfect !

This guesthouse is situated close to Vienna's inner city at a busy crossroads. That means that it is easy to get to and fro but should you come from, say, rural Idaho, you might find it a bit noisy. The guesthouse occupies one floor of a residential building. Keep that in mind when searching for the entrance! Rooms and rates... More

Nothing special but a good, CLEAN, place to stay. Old building, in front of a street, a bit noisy, but if you want it just for a night or two, its fine. Not a four star hotel, but great for its price!

I have been to this hotel in two different times. Very centrally located although maybe not be extremely visible at first. Room are nothing special, fairly large and clean. Staff members very friendly and large breakfast served in the morning. Not bad for a short stay!!!

This hotel is in a good location within walking distance of the centre of Vienna and close to both train and tram stops. The hotel itself is just a floor of a larger building and although there is a sign on the street you can easily miss it so make sure you have good directions. My room was reasonable, the... More

Pension Excellence is a great place for the big group of friends or big family that needs several rooms. Every evening after whole day in the city our company of 12 could have late tea party in the lobby/breakfast area; very friendly staff let us use tea pots, cups, utensils. Breakfast was good, coffee/cappuccino - excellent. Clean rooms. Computers with... More

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
