Had a great time staying in Vienna over Christmas-- the flat is very centrally located but the neighbourhood is not noisy, and the facilities are excellent. Barbara was also very helpful in getting us what we needed!

I had a glorious week at Stadtnest and highly recommend it to anyone who wishes an enjoyable stay in a lovely Viennese neighborhood. Barbara runs her small B&B with efficiency, attention to detail and consideration for her guests. She is a fount of knowledge about Vienna and is generous with her many books about the city.

This was our favorite place in our Europe trip. The location was close to a train station ubahns and trams. About a 10 minute walk with luggage. A bit confusing to orient at first but there is a map to help. There was a mix up with our reservation so we stayed at one of the apartments but had the... More

Had the pleasure of staying with Barbara at Stadtnest just last week. The room was quite big and even had a loveseat which was a nice addition if you just wanted to lounge about a bit in the room. Barbara has done an extraordinary job of putting together a lot of useful information for visitors to Vienna. She was so... More

This is a great little B & B in Vienna that is centrally located (7 min from the main train and only 5 from the metro) but also away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas. You are only a few blocks from the main shopping street but those few blocks mean you are in an authentic Viennese... More

If you like to live like the Viennese in a part of town which is central, but yet quiet, this is the place to go! We stayed for four nights, not wanting to leave when it was time to go back home. Barbara is an excellent host preparing delicious breakfast and offering all kinds of advice. Having Naschmarkt as an... More

Very comfortable stay. Felt right at home and Barbara was very helpful with information and tips about Vienna. The room was quiet and the B & B was conveniently located near Westbahnhof station. The rooms are above the 3rd floor, but there is an elevator. My room was in a two bedroom apartment. So I could use the lobby and... More

Stadtnest B&B was such a wonderful experience for us. Barbara made us feel at home immediately and we could truly relax in beautiful Vienna. It was our first time in Vienna and the wealth of information contained in the notebook in the common area enabled us to experience the true Vienna. We ate at three restaurants very near the B&B... Barbara's breakfasts were the best in our 2.5 weeks in Europe. She is the only one that offered cooked eggs every morning. My guy had fried and I had scrambled everyday. Plus, she offered cereal, meats, cheeses and different breads. The location is excellent to local transportation with the train station and the metro station only a few blocks away.... More

From before we arrived, and even after we left, Barbara made us feel that we had a new friend. The professional service and assistance along with her genuine friendliness and helpfulness made our trip to Vienna even more special. The location between the railway station and city centre made it great for travellers who use public transport to get around.

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighborhood Profile
Mariahilf
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the center. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theater decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
