More derelict building than hostel honestly. With broken air conditioning, leaking ceilings and unhygienic toilets this place has very little going for it. The 'kitchen' facilities are a microwave and a kettle. Oh! I forgot the fridge, though not something I'd recommend using unless you've somehow developed an immunity to E. coli. Upon arrival at the Hostel's reception, we were... More

To start with, we arrived when the receptionist was out on lunch so waited for 55 minutes outside the building for her to arrive. When she did arrive, she was disinterested, confrontational and rushed through the 'welcome'. We were in the blue corridor round the back of reception on another street, which felt unsafe and unsecure, with the door opening... More

This hostel was beyond atrocious. Upon arrival we were given directions to another building around the back of reception. The main door, opened by a flimsy lock, gave onto a dormitory of about 50 beds (-not what we had asked for nor been advertised!). With no windows, this grimy, converted nightclub was unsafe and definitely not worth even its low... More

Cheapest place in Vienna with astounding location. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly showing us the map etc, bag storage wasnt very secure but useful. The hostel was in a separate building to the reception with no communal area. Toilets and showers were in sperate cubicles along the corridor, were small and dirty and the shower... More

Clean beds, clean restrooms. Its a place to sleep and for the price really good. But I could see how the room layout would annoying if you stayed in the front room. Stayed in the 12 bed rooms but you have to walk through other peoples room to get to yours. But the room it self was spacious and pretty... More

Hands down the worst place to stay. Booked a 12 bed dorm with an ensuite. Got a 36 odd bed warehouse type room with 2 toilets and a shower, poorly equipped kitchen. The reception was around the corner on the next street. Pillows with vomit stains and unclean beds. The only good thing was the clean linen. There was a... More

This was one of the most basic hostels/dorms I've ever stayed before. Sheets and bed linens are provided, but dorms are basically in bunk style - very minimalist. There was a rather funky smell when I was there (smelt like people who hadn't showered for days) but for that kind of price tag, I guess you get what you pay... More

The hostel has apartments in different building..so probably you wont have a reception and there wont be anybody..its not a good feelig. The apartment was very old and poor equiped. There isnt a dinnig table or chairs, just a fridge, sink and something to boil water. There are no windows in the common air, and the place isnt so clean.... More

The sheets were clean..thank God..but otheriwise this place felt dirty. My husband saw someone brushing his teeth and spitting in the kitchen sink and people left a mess in the common areas..the bathroom was grosse and the apartments themselves felt dirty and old. The service wasn't that great,,the date of arrival we waited 45 minutes for the front desk to... More

Staying in Neubau

Neighborhood Profile
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
