My husband and I stayed at Hotel Rathaus Wein & Design and we were very pleased. The rooms are very spacious and the entire hotel has a very contemporary and quirky feel. They have a great wine bar and breakfast room, although the breakfast bar is good there, if it isn't included in your room, its 18 euros, which I... More

Dear Bridgette, thank you very much for kind response. Good to know, you liked the hotel in general and regarding breakfast: keep in mind, we are offering three different types of breakfast..., always according to our guests´ needs. Full buffet breakfast which includes everything is Euro 18,00 and definitely saves lunch. Our sweet buffet comes for Euro 12,00 or "coffee... More

We enjoyed a four-night stay at the Hotel Rathaus Wein and Design. It is well named as the focus on both wine and quirky design carry throughout the hotel. Our room on the fourth floor was well laid out, spacious and had ample natural light from the windows overlooking a courtyard. The staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed... More

We stayed here for four nights and really liked it. Some of the rooms are a little quirky, in particular, the first room they gave us had the toilet on one side of the room and the shower and sink on the other side, requiring one to walk from one side of the bed to the other to use both... More

Staff is very friendly, rooms are spacious and quiet, breakfast buffet is fantastic (quality, choice). Hotel is nicely located: 20 min walks to the center (old city), also close to tram, and underground. Perfect hotel of a great long WE in Vienna! Wifi is free and good signal

We stayed in this hotel for 4 amazing days -the team at the hotel specially Conrad the Manager made our stay very enjoyable, there was nothing too difficult and were so accommodating going the extra mile to help. Accommodation very comfortable with large clean rooms, stylish and modern. Great location with waking distance to a lot of attractions. We highly... More

This is definitely one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Each room has a wine theme and you can request white or red. The rooms are large and very comfortable in a contemporary style - ours had a huge rain shower, lovely toiletries, very comfortable beds (2 singles pushed together) and temperature control. I was with my husband... More

Nice wine bar, comfortable beds, wines for sale in your room from individual wine makers, super cool hotel. Great location. Helpful staff, would definitely stay there again. They helped us with food and transportation.

The staff members were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located close to public transportation, and there are many nice restaurants and some entertainment venues nearby. During our 4-day stay we managed to eat Austrian, Italian, Mexican, and French food nearby. We enjoyed ending a couple nights with a glass of wine in the hotel's wine bar. I recommend... More

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
