Wanted a city centre location for our city break to Vienna so booked the ambassador on a hotel web site. Excellently positioned for all sites within the city and has easy access to the metro system. The room was extremely large with additional seating and a well proportioned bathroom with two sinks. However a couple of things that let the... More

I would give this Hotel 5 Points if it had a coffee/tea machine in the rooms plus and ironing board. Those at the reception were allright, but the chambermaids deserve a medal, especially the Asian chambermaid. Ont the whole we enjoyed our 4 nights stay at the Ambassador

I hated dealing with the receptionists as much as I liked the location and the rooms. The porter for instance stood there watching every dragging three large bags one by one without any reactions. Then the man at the reception kept clicking his keyboard ignoring the fact that I greeted him and was standing in front of him and kept... More

Booked blind on BA web site and were very pleasantly surprised. Had a large, quiet, double aspect room overlooking Neuer Markt, so quiet we slept with the window open even on Saturday night. Great hot and cold breakfast buffet supplemented with a la carte cooked dishes included in the B&B rate. Palatial bar with marble columns set in the central... More

Most of the points of interest in Vienna are situated in quite a small area, reachable by foot. This makes the Ambassador hotel a perfect choice. It takes just a few minutes to reach the State Opera, Ronacher theater, St Stefan Cathedral, Hofburg Palace, Albertina Museum, the Museum Quarter and many more attractions. The room we stayed in was big... More

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Ambassador 4 night at different rooms. Since the hotel was fully booked I used an internet booking service and the first two nights we stayed at Appartment 602 on the top floor. This is a large room. Seperate sleeping and sitting/working area. Plus side: Very spacious place, balcony overlooking Kaertnerstrasse, kitchennete with electric... More

Hotel Ambassador is in a great location in the center of Vienna. When we checked in we were given a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite, which we very much appreciated. Perfect location. Large, comfortable rooms. What was disappointing was a subpar service we felt we received from the staff and the lack of amenities (no coffee machine in the room, for example). We felt we didn't get the lay of the city very well from the staff. Staff weren't incredibly friendly either. Not sure we'd recommend this again to friends.... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
