Booked blind on BA web site and were very pleasantly surprised. Had a large, quiet, double aspect room overlooking Neuer Markt, so quiet we slept with the window open even on Saturday night. Great hot and cold breakfast buffet supplemented with a la carte cooked dishes included in the B&B rate. Palatial bar with marble columns set in the central... More

Most of the points of interest in Vienna are situated in quite a small area, reachable by foot. This makes the Ambassador hotel a perfect choice. It takes just a few minutes to reach the State Opera, Ronacher theater, St Stefan Cathedral, Hofburg Palace, Albertina Museum, the Museum Quarter and many more attractions. The room we stayed in was big... More

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Ambassador 4 night at different rooms. Since the hotel was fully booked I used an internet booking service and the first two nights we stayed at Appartment 602 on the top floor. This is a large room. Seperate sleeping and sitting/working area. Plus side: Very spacious place, balcony overlooking Kaertnerstrasse, kitchennete with electric... More

Hotel Ambassador is in a great location in the center of Vienna. When we checked in we were given a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite, which we very much appreciated. The only negatives were that the entire hotel smelled of cigarette smoke, we didn't have basic amenities like a coffee machine, and housekeeping removed the comforter from our bed... More

Perfect location. Large, comfortable rooms. What was disappointing was a subpar service we felt we received from the staff and the lack of amenities (no coffee machine in the room, for example). We felt we didn't get the lay of the city very well from the staff. Staff weren't incredibly friendly either. Not sure we'd recommend this again to friends.... More

Don't let my title mislead you. The hotel was really good. The breakfast was amazing, and the location was practically perfect. Another thing was we got a huge room (probably the biggest hotel room i've ever seen) for a pretty good price. Only concern is. why did it have 6 stars? i've seen better hotels that were only 5. is... More

Conveniently located near Kärntner Strasse - the luxury shopping district in Vienna. A stone's throw away to the shopping district, restaurants and cafes. The hotel's location is also a 5minute walk to train station and Stephansdom / St. Stephen's Cathedral. You can also walk to Billa, a convenience store. Walk to Hofburg Palace and visit the Sisi museum. The hotel... More

We had back-to-back visits to Vienna. The first time we stayed at the Vienna Hilton. I give that visit a 10/10. We then stayed at the Ambassador. I give that visit a 3/10. They gave us a room that opened directly into the bar. Since the bar is open until midnight I worried about the noise. They would/could not change... More

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times and I must say that it is very consistent. The service is excellent, bar is very nice and the restaurant serves lovely food. The rooms vary in size but all are clean, have character and are appointed to a good standard The location is the best. Right in a pedestrian... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
