We stayed for seven nights over the New Year holiday. Our room (#51) was large, even by US standards, with a large bathroom with tub/curtain/shower, vanity, toilet and bidet. The bed had a single mattress between queen and king size (no European gap). It was comfortable but relatively firm. The room is on the top floor and the roof slopes... More

We booked this hotel based on reviews, and because we wanted to spend 2 days near the wineries, after having spent several days in the city. Hotel Schild is a small, modern, nicely maintained hotel with lovely views of the vineyards. It is in a quiet residential area, just outside of the city, with wineries within walking distance. Several excellent... More

We stopped here during our trip back home from our holidays in Poland. Quiet hotel not too big in a relaxing area. Rooms are in local style, clean and well furnished. Very good Internet connection (for free) and many good and affordable Austrian style restaurants at walking distance. Only the TV set was a bit old and deserving an update... More

Nice quiet and tidy hotel in the middle of the vineyards at the outskirts of Vienna. Good service, friendly staff. The "Heurigen" are walking distance and they are not such a tourist place as Grinzing. Hope to come back there soon

Location is a bit out of the city but we planned this to experience a little of the local life around the wineries and enjoy a night of tavern hopping. Staff were friendly and helpful with information. Easy transport into the city but we did catch taxis back to hotel late at night after being in the city for the... More

The hotel is at the outskirts of the city, right next to the Wienerwald (Vienna Woods) and the vineyards of Vienna. The rooms are comfortable, quiet and clean. The hotel has a garage for reasonable price. The breakfast was very good (they are generally very good in Austrian hotels but it was a bit better than the usual). The only... More

The hotel is located in nice area - hills with wineyards and a lot traditional restaurant where you can enjoy the local food and the local wine. Room was large, huge bathroom, everything was clean and service without problems. They have a parking (priced extra) and wifi (the signal poer is not the best...). Breakfast is quite impressive, including coffee... More

A small boutique hotel but very friendly staff specially the lady in the restaurant. Clean rooms and good bathroom. Value for money for a city like Vienna. The breakfast is not a wide variety of things but yet very good quality and is served well. Kind staff, was even served a very late night sandwich with a smile :)))

I have read most of the reviews for this hotel (in a few different languages, though I can't read the one from Denmark) and am glad to see that most were four or five circles. I have spent quite a bit of time at the hotel over the last few months, initially as I was commuting here to work at... More

Our house in the 19th district of Vienna is not large enough to host 4 extra family members and we were interested in finding a hotel near our home. We have driven past this hotel many, many times and when we asked our friends we all said the same thing "we have driven past it, I know exactly which hotel... More

Staying in Dobling

Neighborhood Profile
Dobling
Vienna’s poshest green leafy suburb is also its most romantic hotspot. Walk up Grinzinger Strasse with its many historic wine taverns. The tops of nearby Nussberg and Reisenberg hills make for great strolls through the vineyards, and the occasional discovery of a hidden winery. Popular local weekend hangouts are Neustift am Walde with even more great wine taverns, and café restaurant Cobenzl, up on Cobenzl hill – fantastic for great vistas of Vienna. The woodland around Kahlenberg has a wonderful and not too strenuous hiking path - just don't forget the insect repellent. If you have adventurous children, take them to Waldseilpark Kahlenberg (forest rope park Kahlenberg). A must-do if you want a taste of the Vienna Woods is a stop at Josefinenhütte next door with its great food, cosy interiors and wonderful outdoor space.
