It is a really nice hotel. Great service (all the other reviews were right). We stayed in a suite and overall it was really special. A couple of niggles that dropped the rating to a 4 - the headboard on the bed was stained from use, the bath/shower was strange so you had to sit to shower and the suite... More

This was without a doubt one of the coolest best hotels I have ever stayed at or seen...in a word, WOW. Basically the owner has taken his whole art collection and put it into the hallways and hotel rooms. You genuinely feel like you are living in an art museum. Location is perfect for all you'll want to do and... More

It was our Silver Wedding Anniversary so we decided to stay somewhere special. The hotel was an excellent choice. From the minute we stepped inside the hotel it was like going back in time to the 30s with a mix of modern art. The staff were wonderful and treated us like family. We felt really welcome and they helped us... More

A well appointed chic Boutique hotel, within walking distance to major attractions. The staff in general specially at the reception desk were very professional and always willing to help. The rooms were nicely decorated, comfortable and extremely clean. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was very soothing and relaxing and their breakfast spread second to none. I would definitely recommend... More

This hotel has so many positives: great location, especially for the art museums; in a neighborhood with many ethnic restaurants; excellent extra options at the breakfast buffet; bright, attractive common areas; helpful front desk. We had a junior suite with a separate living room and a walk-in closet. The flat screen television was larger than those for typical Austrian hotels.... More

My husband and I spent a lot of time deciding where to stay in Vienna. We are so glad we picked the Altstadt. We were worried about being away from the ring, but the walk is quick and easy (definitely not something to be concerned about). As expected from the website, our room was a little eclectic but also charming,... More

This is my second time at this hotel. Unfortunately it was only for one night. Service is its forte with a clued in reception that within literally a few minutes from my arrival had spotted and given me a choice of plasters for a small cut on my finger, found out about a spa nearby and booked a restaurant for... The Altstdadt is a real gem of a hotel. It is very comfortable and homely but unique stylish and quirky. Location is also perfect for the main Museums and Galleries. The food is wonderful and the staff are excellent.

We stayed at the Altstadt for a short break in Vienna. Really easy to get to from the airport and about a 10minute walk from the nearest underground station. Our room was very spacious and decorated nicely. Staff were helpful during our stay- recommending places, booking a table for us etc. Breakfast was great- a good selection of cereals, breads,... The Altstadt splendid little hotel only a few blocks from Imperial Vienna, with very nicely appointed rooms, an exceeding helpful staff and an incomparable breakfast. Located in area with many small restaurants and interesting shops, it is a convenient walk to the trolleys or to the most interesting tourist attractions, museums, and the Imperial palace. Staying in Neubau

Neighborhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
