Fell in love with the quirky decor at Altstadt. We stayed here 3 nights at the beginning of August. When we first walked into the hotel at the ground level it seemed rather dull and unwelcoming. Even the area around the hotel is somewhat unimpressive. Check-in was quick and efficient. The lady at the reception desk escorted us to the... More

This is one of the best hotels we've stayed at and the other family members I was traveling thought the same. I've never had such a personable check in. I had booked four rooms and the lady could not have been more enthusiastic and genuinely friendly in showing us the rooms. free tea and coffee cake at 4pm was a... More

We stayed here for two nights. We wished it could have been longer. Everything had such a personal touch. It was my birthday and there was a handwritten card and little gift waiting for me in the room from the hotel. The breakfast was delicious and they had an incredible selection of loose leaf teas in the salon. The staff... More

My wife and I stayed three nights here on a weekend break to Vienna. Very nice hotel! Good selection of bars and restaurants within 5 mins and easy walk into centre of city. The hotel itself is an old, traditional building but it has been modernized internally to a high standard. Well appointed rooms with nice bathrooms, comfortable beds, Nespresso... More

Combining a friendly and energetic staff with a superb location and exuding warmth, Hotel Altstadt Vienna is clearly our favorite when visiting or transiting Austria. With an eagerness to please and having knowledge of the local area, the staff made excellent recommendations and reservations for us during our stay. The tradition of a hearty breakfast with daily specials, delicious coffee... More

Situated 10 mins walk outside the main ring road of Vienna, this is a very convenient location to explore Vienna's many sites. We stayed here for a long weekend and enjoyed the breakfasts and afternoon tea and cake which was available daily at no extra cost. Helpful friendly staff. The room was modern and stylish (classified as 'reloaded') and was... More

Arrived in Vienna during a 100°F heat wave. The Alstadt was literally a breath of fresh air. The words to describe it are friendly, gracious, comfortable, beautiful, and CHIC! And we had a piano in our junior suite!! Also cake at tea time and a delicious breakfast. Would love to go back in the future!

the hotel is really wonderful. excellent service, very good breakfast, perfect location to enjoy downtown or to jump on the metro. not all the rooms are as big as the picture you see on the tripadvisor site. if you go there by car, don't forget to look for a parking slot - if you just leave your car in the... We spent our wedding anniversary at Altstadt hotel with my wife. I chose this hotel based on the reviews and the guest recommendations on the hotel's website. And it was definitely an excellent choice. We stayed in the white suite on the first floor. I was a bit worried upon arrival since the entrance of the hotel is not very... More

Staying in Neubau

Neighborhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
