We enjoyed 4 nights in the hotel. The location is great - 2 minutes walk to the U-ban and you get get to almost every location in the city, We arrived in the hotel around 10 in the morning, so the room was not ready yet, but we were able to leave the luggage in the hotel. The room was... More

We stayed at Hotel Alpha last year for the Christmas markets and enjoyed Vienna so much we wanted to come back to see it in warmer weather. There seemed little point trying to find another hotel when we had enjoyed such a pleasant stay here previously. The location is very convenient near the Rathaus, and about 15 mins walk into... Due to a last minute desicion to go to a conference in Vienna my normal hotel choices were either booked or three times what I normally would pay. My new support person booked me at the Alpha Hotel in Vienna. When I arrived I was dissappointed to find out that it was very small, no restaurant or bar, and no... More

This hotel was not what I expected. When we first arrived I thought it looked just OK. After being there for a few hours I changed my mind. Our room was on the 6th floor. Our room seemed small as the wall was slanted. I slept on the slanted side as my husband is 6'3 and I was afraid he... More

If you are looking for Asburgic touch, this hotel has nothing but if efficient stuff, well working wifi, silent AC, clean rooms, good shower mean something Take this hotel into considerati on. And if by chance you have a meeting early in The morning with the Mayor do not worry, after a hearty breakfast a three minutes walk will bring... More

My husband and I stayed in Hotel Alpha in May 2015. It was very nice, clean and we had a large room. The hotel has an elevator. They have a nice common area in the lobby. They serve a good breakfast with lots of choices.

Starting with the location, the hotel helped us to visit the best places in Vienna. Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful for us, very god breakfast. Also about the room, very clean and comfortable. All these for a good price. I recommend the hotel to anybody, of course.

The hotel is in a good location, quiet and handy for Rathaus tram and underground. There are places to eat nearby. We had breakfast included, which was fine. Shame no kettle, but for the price one can't complain.

We stayed at this hotel near Christtmas, when my girlfriend and I decided to have a qucik weekend trip to Vienna. The hotel was reasonably cheap compared to its great location near the Rathaus, where the main Chirstmasmarkt is. The rooms were comfy and clean and it was everything we expected, definietly our choice should we go to visit VIenna... More

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
