My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night. It was easy to get to from the main railway station with a short ride on the U-bahn with one change, and a short walk to the hotel. Next day, another short walk took us to the stop for the airport bus. We really appreciated the tea and coffee... More

The hotel staff certainly lived up to their reputation, unceasingly helpful and cheerful. Hotel is centrally located, near to restaurants. Rooms are adequate and clean. Breakfast was good - wide choice.

The Hotel is in a very convenient position to visit the most important part of the town walking. The staff (all of them, starting from reception to the cleaning and breakfast) is very, very nice, helpfull and available for suggestions and little talk. I stay 2 nights with my wife and 4 friens (2 couples) and all of us were... More

The hotel was close to the Radthaus metro station, and because if that easily in reach of the rest of vienna. Breakfast was good and the room and rest of the hotel are very clean. The only negative part for us was the poor sound isolation between the rooms, so if you have noisy neighbors, like we did, you may... More

Lovely comfortable hotel in really good location. Helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Hot bath/shower. Comfortable bed. WiFi. Help yourself to coffee any time. Easy to walk across the road to the Christmas market. Very near museums, main tourist sights. Perfect.

A trip to tick another item on the bucket list, we stayed here for a long weekend to visit the Christmas Markets. We caught the train from the airport and then the under ground to the Rathaus, very straight forward. My only comment would be "make sure you validate your underground ticket" Blue box on a pole. We were kindly... More

What an absolutely wonderful find this hotel was! Looking for a reasonably priced, central location for a family weekend in Vienna, we chose this hotel at random, based on its great reviews. What an inspired decision. The hotel is really well located, near the Rathaus (and Christmas Market) and the U-Bahn, as well as being perfectly located to stroll into... More

We stayed here in November 2014 for 3 nights. Great location - especially for the Rathaus Christmas Market. The hotel served a lovely breakfast and we were recommended a brilliant restaurant nearby by the hotel receptionist. The room was small but more than adequate for our needs. Would definitely recommend this to anyone going to Vienna

Great value for money, rooms adequate size, clean and with the quietest air conditioning. Basic toiletries provided in large squeezy bottles which are not easy to use. Breakfast is continental with good choice, lovely breads, scrambled and boiled eggs and sausage. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Location is within walking distance of old town, Parliament and Museum Square. One or... More

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
