Pension Baltic is located in a nice part of vienna, very close to the center. It is not recommended for people with high standards. But if you desire only in a place to spent the night in a good price it is most certaily would do. The rooms are very old but big (at list the one we got-number 2).... More

I just came back from my third visit in Vienna, where I stayed for the third time at Baltic pension. Indeed the location is great because it is really close to everything you need to see in Vienna. The first two times I stayed there it was ok, enough for what I needed considering I didn't spend that much time... More

We stay at the Baltic Pension every time we are in Vienna. The men at the reception (most are older) are very friendly, helpful, have good tips for traveling on the trams and buses, helped us arrange transportation to the airport. We travel by bicycle and there is a garage to put our bikes. The room was clean - as... More

I needed a single room relatively close on foot to the nerve centre of the city. I discovered the Baltic Pension by reading the Cartoville on Vienna and called there. The guy on the phone sounded strange (a bit unfriendly and reluctant to take my reservation). When I met him, my first impression got real: he was dodgy, unfriendly, unhelpful... More

The hotel was basic, but downtown! You have go only 10 Minutes to "Stephansdom"! You have to see "Kahlenberg" by night! The "Votiv-church is also a very, very beautiful place!

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
