We spent 3 days in Zipser hotel, unfortunately these three days were awfully hot and it was not very comfortable without conditioner. Hotels.com AGAIN gave wrong description regarding this option and again ignored my message concerning this "mistake". I would not trust this site any more. Fortunately we could sleep with fan and open balcony. The rest was perfect! Staff... More

Comfortable rooms, shower space is a bit limited, but good all in all. No fridge in room. Buffet is above average, breakfast is free. Staff very kind and helpful on any issue. The neighborhood is really nice, pretty close to historical center and many of the main attractions (museums, buildings). Underground station Rathaus is at 5 minutes walk, and you... More

The Hotel Zipser is a little gem found in the 8th district of Vienna- a 5 minute walk from the Rauthaus (Town Hall). Rooms are comfortable, roomy and staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a self serve feast. More importantly is the great location. The hotel is surrounded by interesting and varied eateries, jazz clubs and tapas bars. A walk... More

A quiet and very special hotel, just off the ring and the center. You can walk to all the major central locations or you can take public transportation just around the corner. Very easy access to Westbahnhof train station, city center and all the good and special in the area of Josefstädter street. The room was clean and comfortable, the... More

very good access to the center of vienna by walking, tram and metro, and also to the fashion area such as 7th district, neubaugase. the hotel is clean, calm except in the morning(i heard people playing instruments and singing), a bit slow wifi. but we are quite satisfied at their service and location. i do prefer staying at this hotel... Just had a 2nd visit to Hotel Zipser and like our 1st visit, found the staff very helpful and cheery, especially Herr Habid and the lovely lady who runs the Breakfast Room. This Hotel is so handy for getting around the city and within walking distance of many tourist attractions yet is in a quiet side street. Worth the extra... More

The Hotel is lovely, rooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of space. There is a large TV with english news channels and a desk area with tea and Coffee making facitlities. The staff were friendly and accommodated requests for extra tea/coffee and a pillow in the room. My friend and I stayed in a superior room which has a... More

The hotel has a very nice location, just behind the Rathaus. One can reach the main sights of the city just by walking. We were there for business reasons but visited the city as well. So visiting the Hofburg and all its museums, the Opera House, the Stephansdom, the Parliament, etc is very easy from there. The neighborhood where the... More

Quiet and peaceful family hotel near the centre. A good breakfast. The timetable for breakfast is very comfortable for holiday. The friendly staff. Free Wi-Fi. Excellent for its location: few minutes from the U-Bahn, tram and Rathaus. But we had a small problem - the room had two single beds instead of one double. :((

Hotel gave me two twin beds shoved next to each other for one person. The desk people are not very friendly and don't give much as far as information on what is around the hotel or what to do. I reserved the room for 3 nights, but informed the hotel I would only stay 2 nights, and I gave them... More

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
