Loved this small hotel in the heart of Vienna. It was conveniently located to all the sites I wanted to see. Everything was very walkable. There was sufficient privacy and quiet even though the Aviano is just off a high traffic shopping area. The staff was extremely helpful, able to answer any question, and provide suggestions for activities and restaurants/cafes.... More

This very nice pension was very close to the Opera with easy access to all the city has to offer. The rooms are very large and comfortable. This is an old building that has been converted into a pension. The staff was wonderful and very much a help finding our way around Vienna. The breakfast was a wonderful European breakfast... More

Very homey with really thoughtful staff who gladly help you learn the city. From our room we could see St. Stephens and Swarovski (equally pleasant on rainy days). From the hotel, pleasant walks took us to the Opera, the Ringstrasse, the Hofburg, the great art galleries and museums of Vienna, and marvelous restaurants and shops. The U-bahn (subway) made travel... More

This hotel is an old converted apartment house, with very few rooms, but tastefully done and in the very center of Vienna and close to all the attractions. A perpetually full taxi rank is a two minute walk from the hotel and restaurants abound throughout the town. The pedestrian promenades are a delight, but the shops are pricey. Do you... More

Dear Guest, thanks for taking the time to write a review after your stay at Pension Aviano. Aviano is actually a Pension and not a Hotel. The main difference between those two are that we have no entrance on street level, no lobby and no Restaurant. So the ideal place to stay for guest which are not depending on that.... More

Really enjoyed staying here. The staff was great, room was spacious and comfortable, and you certainly can't beat the location. I would easily stay here again. The staff were very good about allowing my husband to keep his bicycle on the premises. You walk just about everywhere in Vienna from this location and there are tons of great restaurants nearby.... The Pension Aviano is a mix of classic Vienna in the middle of a bustling modern metropolis. The location is ideal--walking distance to many of the tourist attractions, but located in the middle of the city center. If you wake up early on the weekend for a stroll, you may be the only person in the streets to enjoy the... More

Dear Guest, thank you so much for writing a review after your stay with us. We are glad to read that you had an enjoyable stay. The City Center is normally rather quiet during the night, especially during the week. I'am sorry to read that the elvevator broke down during your stay, which is really a novelty. It is rather... The Aviano has an excellent location, right at the edge of one of the main pedestrian areas. Taxi stand very nearby, should you need one. It was easy to walk to the many attractions right "downtown." The desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful (and speak excellent English, for which I was grateful, given my very poor German). The room... More

We were very demanding clients. Vienna was the starting point for our cycling trip down the Danube and we were needing a place to store the bikes on arrival. Despite the fact that the pension's central location (top three stories of a beautiful old building) is not suitable for this, they agreed to a solution. Great room, good breakfast and... More

We stayed here for four nights. The location is great and all the major sights are within easy walking or tram access. The rooms are large and decorated in what I imagine as old world Viennese charm. The breakfast was sufficient and the service very friendly. The only problem was some street noise from the bar (Medusa) downstairs, but that'... More

Dear Guest, thanks for writing a review about our house. We are pleased to read that you ejoyed your stay. We are sorry to read that the noise from the Restaurant was too disturbing for you. Dear Guest, We are sorry to read that Pension Aviano didn't fullfill your expectations. Since we had no break down of the Elevator for the last couple or years and since we also had no "non Arrival with no check in " at the Reception we are a bit curious about your booking. With not checking in it seems that... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
