We stayed 4 nights on an unexpected trip to Vienna. The hotel is reasonably priced and has great service from a family run business. It is clean, comfortable, well appointed. It is a 5 minute walk to the underground, bus or Volkstheatre. You can walk to the Museum quarter, Hopburg Palace and St Stephens Cathedral. The breakfast included is extensive... More

Stayed 3 nights in May, the hotel was easy to check in, no fuss, the room was clean and bed comfortable, It was 2 minute walk to the bus , tram and underground. And only 10 minutes walk (if that) from the museum quarter. There is a male only sauna in the basement, with bar, but there is no issue... More

When I booked a ten-day stay at Pension Wild for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, I had no idea what a perfect place I had chosen. In a beautiful quiet part of charming Josefstadt, the Pension Wild is only a three or four minute walk from the Rathaus or Volkstheater stations with all their transport options. The sights of the... I have been staying at the Pension Wild for many years. In fact, I even remember Mama Wild. Peter Wild is possibly the best host in Vienna. When I first stayed in the 1990s, he drove us to the airport and detoured to show us the Hundertwasser House on the way. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and... More

For the price in vienna i would say this is a very good place to stay! we stayed here for 2 nights, in a double room on the 4th room, i think that's a deluxe room. The room was really large with a lot of space, tv (which we did not use), mini bar and bathroom. Wifi is available throughout... More

Just as others have said, the location is great. Walking distance to the Museum Quartier and the Habsburg Palaces and the Ringstrasse. There is so much to see within easy reach of this pension that I had no need to use public transit. I was able to easily walk from the train station. The room was very basic, with three... More

We spent 5 nights in this charming little hotel end of March 2015. It has a nice location in a quiet area of Vienna, close to Museum quarter. Underground and tramway 5 minutes away. Christian working there had booked a fixed price taxi waiting for us at the airport. We had originally booked a standard double room, however, this turned... More

Location is 10 mins by foot to the Opera (cost of public transport in Vienna 2.20 per single trip in January 2015). 3 supermarkets and a lot of restaurants/bars in neighborhood. Breakfast is included in price (european buffet+tea/coffee/juice). Helpful staff with good English. Discounts for regular customers. Gay friendly. The perfect heating in winter (in winter snowing Vienna it is... More

As a family of four adults we booked a double and two single rooms with private facilities in each room. On arriving early in the morning, after travelling for 15 hours, Peter (the manager) promptly checked all of us into our respective rooms. We were very appreciative of this. The rooms were super as were the other facilities offered, such... More

The staff was friendly and Peter Wild (the manager) is a very nice person! He recommended us some restaurants and super markets nearby the hotel. The room was clean, warm, spacious and sunny! The location is very good as is only some minutes away from the Rathaus (city hall), Museumsquartier, the Austrian Parliament and the Hofburg Palace! Also Volkstheater and... More

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
