Just as others have said, the location is great. Walking distance to the Museum Quartier and the Habsburg Palaces and the Ringstrasse. There is so much to see within easy reach of this pension that I had no need to use public transit. I was able to easily walk from the train station. The room was very basic, with three... More

We spent 5 nights in this charming little hotel end of March 2015. It has a nice location in a quiet area of Vienna, close to Museum quarter. Underground and tramway 5 minutes away. Christian working there had booked a fixed price taxi waiting for us at the airport. We had originally booked a standard double room, however, this turned... More

Location is 10 mins by foot to the Opera (cost of public transport in Vienna 2.20 per single trip in January 2015). 3 supermarkets and a lot of restaurants/bars in neighborhood. Breakfast is included in price (european buffet+tea/coffee/juice). Helpful staff with good English. Discounts for regular customers. Gay friendly. The perfect heating in winter (in winter snowing Vienna it is... More

As a family of four adults we booked a double and two single rooms with private facilities in each room. On arriving early in the morning, after travelling for 15 hours, Peter (the manager) promptly checked all of us into our respective rooms. We were very appreciative of this. The rooms were super as were the other facilities offered, such... More

The staff was friendly and Peter Wild (the manager) is a very nice person! He recommended us some restaurants and super markets nearby the hotel. The room was clean, warm, spacious and sunny! The location is very good as is only some minutes away from the Rathaus (city hall), Museumsquartier, the Austrian Parliament and the Hofburg Palace! Also Volkstheater and... More

We spent 2 nights in this hotel and there is nothing to complain about. The receptionists are friendly, breakfast is OK, Wi-Fi everywhere. The room was cosy, clean and with a shower within the room. There was no TV, but that`s no big deal. We would consider to stay here again if we go to Vienna again.

This here was a great find for a for a friend and mine whilst on a semi low budget stop over in Vienna. The staff from the get go speak quite good English which was a bonus from the start (as I'd read that other lower budget accommodation venues in Vienna don't take likely to non German speaking folk) we... We stayed in a room with a shared bath/toilet here for three night during our visit to Vienna. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the Volkstheater subway stop and about about 15 minute walk from the start of the Old Vienna tourist area. The room was quiet and clean with daily maid service. If the window... More

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
