We stayed here for 3 nights in January while attending a ball. Highly recommend. Pluses: ** Very kind, friendly staff. When we told them it was our wedding anniversary, they left a bottle of champagne with chocolates in our room! ** Clean and secure ** Excellent location in the Inner Ring, walking distance to St Stephan's, the Hofburg, etc. **... My husband and I stayed in pension city in November as we were going to the Christmas markets. The hotel is in an excellent location and the staff are great! We had a hiccup when the noise from construction outside woke us up (about 730 am) I went to complain, the lady at the desk apologised and told me the... More

Great location in walking distance of museums, shopping street, many restaurants and cafes. Spacious room for 3 and beds are ok. Tiny bathroom with a sink too small to easily wash out some clothes. Some odor in the bathroom and electric toilet quite noisy. Floors in hallway are very creaky but we weren't disturbed at all by noise. Staff only... More

We stayed here for four days over the new year and were very satisfied with City Pension. They organised a transfer for us from the airport which made it very convenient. The hotel is literally a 2 minute walk to Stephansdom and many restaurants. There is also a supermarket at the end of the street (closed on Sundays). We stayed... More

Located in a quiet street, just several corners away from the middle of city. Less than 2 mins walking distance to metro station (right next to St. Stephan Dom) and just couple more minutes to major shopping areas and famous restaurants. Room is a bit small but well enough for travellers IMO. Staff are nice and helpful. Breakfast a bit... More

Perfect location, charming staff, lovely room. A wonderful stay in the very center of Vienna. Our room faced the street, and was still quiet. We didn't have breakfast at the pension, as there were many great cafes nearby.

The best thing about this hotel is its location. Like many other reviews suggested, you could walk to the cathedral and subway station. You are also surrounded by nice shops and restaurants. The room is small (very) but clean. Soundproof is not very good and the floorboards in the common corridor squeak too, so just be aware.

The hotel is very well located, near Stephansplatz, where the St. Stephan Dom is. In 2 minutes walking, you are in the middle of the City Center, in Kärntner Straße with a lot of options of shops and restaurants. I recommend that you buy the Vienna Ticket to use the public transportation in your stay. The staff is helpful and... More

My husband and I stayed for three days during our whirlwind tour of Europe, and we both absolutely loved this hotel! The location is by far a huge plus since you are within walking distance to shopping, great restaurants, several historical sites and the train system if you need to go a longer distance. The rooms were a bit small,... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
