Dear user janasek007, thank you for your great review. You necessarily need to return to try our various breakfast (every day until 12) - on warm and sunny days also in our garden. Hope to see you soon back at the Mercure Josefshof. Best regards to Praha :-) Markus Schmid Resident Manager More

Hotel is located close to Rathaus U-bahn (purple line). It's also within walking distance to Volkstheater U-bahn (orange line), which allows one to connect to S7 train to the airport from Wien Mitte. Most of the attractions are within walking distance. Hotel itself could use an update as furniture and fittings appear well-worn. But the hotel itself is quite clean,... More

We just changed most of the carpets in our rooms and all floors and will replace about 100 matrasses in May. Hope to see you again to show you what has changed. Just returned from a stay in this very pleasant hotel. Excellent value for money. Good, quiet position within walking distance of most sights and near tram and metro. Small but clean and comfortable room. Only downside a very annoying 'electric' tap in wash basin. Delicious breakfast and lots of local restaurants for meals. Helpful, friendly knowledgable staff.

As a group of two couples, we had booked this weekend package break via a discount agency. 40 Euros taxi from the airport to the hotel door is cheaper than four return train tickets. We had planned to buy two or three day travel pass, but quickly realised most is within a walk from this hotel and made do with... More

This is a really nice hotel, centrally located in Vienna. The service was good and the rooms were better than average, but the breakfast was really out of this world. The perfect thing after an all night crawl.

Very comfortably situated hotel - it is central, but without the noise you would get if you were staying in the very centre of Vienna. The street is really quiet, and this is also probably the first time when I didn't hear the cleaning ladies in he morning when they start doing their job and can get really loud in... More

Great location! Walking distance from may tourist attractions. If you travel by car, they offer parking for 30EUR per day!! You can avoid paying it by parking your car on the street on weekends and holidays - it's free. Make sure you park in a right zone. Hotel building is very nice, staff is friendly, rooms are clean and comfortable.... More

Dear user Anartolykrol, thank you so much for your great review about your stay with us in December. We loved to read that you were overall satisfied. Nice hotel, good value and great location walking distance (10 mins max) to the Rathaus and from there the museum quarter, parliament and the city is close. Visited whilst the ice park was in place at the Rathaus - definately worth a visit and a trip on the viewing platform / tower.

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
