Some women receptionists are very rude. Very warm hotel. No air conditioner. It is the same food every day. Staff is not that helpful. The room service come at the time you take rest. If you borrow any thing from the women receptionist, record while you give it back, otherwise they accuse you of stealing. The only good person is... More

I am not sure how hotels in Austria are rated and how this hotel can advertise a 4-star rating. not that it bad, but it has extremely limited facilities. It is more like a bed-and-breakfast, than a hotel. For starters, there is no restaurant and the "bar" is a corner of the reception and staffed by the same people that... More

Very pleasant hotel, we liked our room which was immaculately clean and well appointed. Walking distance to the centre of magnificent Vienna. Parking was easy in nearby streets. Supermarkets close by. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights during our trip to Vienna. It is in a perfect location with easy access to the Metro and trams. It was only a couple of blocks to the historic center. It was on a quiet street, so no noise issues. The room was a little outdated, but everything was clean and comfortable. The room... More

I do not think this this hotel is a 4 star, as advertised. However, check-in process was easy and smooth, the staff were helpful. The location is very good. We arrived to the hotel from the airport with S7 train and U2 line metro, we paid 4.40 euros per person. No need for a taxi, if you want to save... More

This is our forth stay at Mercure Josefshof. Every time we choose this hotel for the good location and for the correct price. We book and pay the room in advance on the Accor site. This time it was not a good idea because when we checked in, the lady at the reception blocked on my card the amount I've... More

This hotel is very nice. the lobby is not too big but gives a sense of a respectable hotel. Our room was not too big but quit elegant. The most important thing is the location that is not far from the center and there are trains buses and trams nearby so it is very easy to go all around. The... More

Nothing spectacular, nothing bad. If you want a comfortable room close to the city centre then this is the hotel. Privilege rooms are very comfortable. Other than breakfast the hotel does not provide any other services. As per previous reviews there are plenty of places to eat outside of the hotel. Incredibly easy to get to from the airport. From... Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
