The general standard of the hotel was good, the room was big with nice thick curtains, the breakfast room and food was outstanding. The price was reasonable at about £75 per night with breakfast and we couldn't ask for more from the hotel. The location is a few minutes walk from a metro station and about 10 min walk to... More

Friendly and helpful staff on arrival. The room was brilliant and very comfortable. Staff always polite and happy to help. Location is excellent, 5-10minutes to get to several of the main areas and two small supermarkets around the corner.

I enjoyed very much my stay at your Mercure Josefshof Wien. The location is excellent, services, cleanliness and rooms, too. The attitude and professionalism of the receptionists was, also, excellent. I recommend everyone to stay here!

My wife and I enjoyed a long weekend in Vienna in August and found the Josefhos to be an ideal hotel for our visit. It is located in a very quiet street but close to good transport links - the No 2 tram is only 200m from the hotel while the Rathaus metro station is only 5 minutes' walk away.... More

Dear lainMM47, thank you very much for your incredible feedback. Your comments show us that we are on the right way to provide our guests the best possible service. Your relaxing nights might also refer to the recently changed matrasses - so you were one of the first guests sleeping on the 28cm highclass matrasses :-) We definitely hope to... More

Visited vienna with my wife and 2 kids for 4 days 3 nights. Booked an apartment in the new adjacent building on 2nd floor. Windows facing the courtyard but as we visited during heatwave thus never opened the window. The apartment has new bathroom. Nice room for the price that we paid for (less than euro100/night). Extra bed prepared although... More

Lovely hotel in a really good location. If you like walking then you can walk to most places from here, thats what we did. Located up a small quite sreet so you would almost pass it by. Dear gc65, thank you so much for your feedback and your praises on tripadvisor. We do have many privilege rooms facing the street side - which by the way is no problem with the noise as we are located really quiet. We would have loved to change the room if you would have requested. But maybe next time ;-)) Kind... More

We enjoyed our stay at Mercure, although we had to put-up with heat-wave temperatures. The air-condition was a blessing and the rooms were quite large. Very central for all our sightseeing We found the €18 each for breakfast rather high, but there are quit a lot of other options outside. The rooms were clean and the staff at the reception... More

We stayed for 4 nights in this hotel and overall, we enjoyed our time there (although to be fair we were out for the majority of the day). We stayed in an apartment. It was easy to find and the air conditioning saved us in the extreme heat! I was disappointed with the room considering it was a 4 star but I was most annoyed at having to walk to the ironing room because there were no irons for the rooms. The staff were lovely and helped us with recommendations about the local... More

Dear Brenda D, thank you very much for sending us your experiences about your stay. It was nice to read that you liked your stay in general. Unfortunately due to austrian law concerning fire protection we are not allowed to put irons in the guest rooms. This is why we have an ironing room in the ground floor. Best regards... More

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
