It was our second stay in Vienna (christmas this time) and my girlfriend found the most amazing offer online for the altwienerhof - about 40E/night for a double or something like that - in full Christmas! We're campers/backpackers usually but now we wanted to raise the standards a bit :) I don't know if it was our hotel lack of... more

My colleague and I stayed here for 5 days for a convention. We had a convenient, clean suite, a place that we liked to come back to in the evenings. Breakfast was very good and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The neighbourhood is quiet , yet there is an underground station nearby and it is very easy to... more

I requested a pretty room and ended up with a suite- chintz covered loveseat and chair, an enormous bathtub and separate shower in one room and a toilet and bidet in another. We looked out on trees and a courtyard which, in late Sept. was quiet. Our room was charming and felt like Vienna! The breakfast was substantial[ cook-your-own bacon... more

My friend and I stayed at this property for three nights in February 2007 and overall would say that it was a pleasant experience. At 50 Euros a night for a twin room and with its proximity to the train station it was a great price! Initially we were placed in this beautiful old room but mistakenly they put us... more

I really do NOT recommend to anyone to make a reservation in this hotel. If they make a mistake in their booking system they do NOT offer you any help, instead they are rather rude and blame you as a customer for their mistake. Their customer service levels is really below all standards. There are many others nice places in... more

We stayed here for three nights on the basis of the good reviews from 2004, particularly for the restaurant and the wine cellar. On arriving (during the evening), we noted the various restaurant and wine plaques and awards around the reception, but were very surprised that there was no one in the restaurant. The room was well past its best;... more

We booked based on the reviews here. Reception girl had attitude issues, the room was not only dated but tatty with mildew in the bathroom, no bathroom door (and people from across the street had a lovely view of our shower), a damaged painting (someone had apparently crossed through it with a sharp implement), and there was hair (not ours)... more

Location was good (between main trainstation and the Ring). We had one of their suites and it was lovely. Some of the decor showed its age, but the bathroom was brand new, sparkling, and had a huge round tub for two. No A/C but double windows kept things cool in July. Totally quiet at night. Price was totally reasonable for... more

The Altwienerhof exudes classic Viennese style. Frau Kellner and all the staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The hotel is a bit outside the Ring, but an easy 10 minute commuting distance to the city center. The rooms were incredibly spacious, with wonderful sitting areas. Breakfast was superb with many fresh, nutritious choices and was served in a... more

We stayed at the Altwienerhof last April, after reading numerous reviews about its rooms, hospitality and service, as well as its world-class restaurant. The room was in fact a suite (for about E100/night), and breakfast was taken indoors as the outdoor garden was not yet ready. The service, which was somewhat perfunctory at first, became softer as we stayed on.... more
