I arrived in Vienna by train, so the location of the hotel was perfect just in front of the Hauptbahnhof Station. The hotel is a two stars, basic with a reasonable room and good bed for sleep, the single room was very clean, it faced the courtyard and it was very quiet, very good for a good night of sleep.... Bang on newly built main railway station .....Wien hbf... Slightly away from city centre. Take Underground (metro) on Red line U1 to reach there. Bed size width is too small in case single room is booked. WiFi does not work properly on 5th floor.

Normally I stay at a hotel that is also across from the Hauptbahnhof and faces on the Wiedner Gürtel but this time it was booked solid due to a meeting and I chose this nearby hotel as the best alternative. It was acceptable but not more. The single room was tiny but clean. It faced on an inner courtyard that... More

There are positives about this hotel. It is near to the main railway station which is an exceptional transportation hub. The hotel is old and some would see that as a positive also. Now for the absurd. Two days after check out the hotel claims that I damaged their property and requested I provide them with a credit or debit... More

We booked a double room, but were offered a single room. The manager was very unfriendly and tried to blame the problem on the booking agency. we wanted to leave our luggage ( 2 small back packs) but he refused to hold them as he said had no space!! we returned 2 hours later and asked if he had sorted... I'm disappointed in myself for making my New Year's Eve plans at the last minute, which meant settling for this bare bones hotel because it still had vacancies. It's shameful that they can jack up rates threefold just because it's a holiday, in exchange for abismal quality of facilities. Even worse that I gave in. For 250€ (a two night... More

Hotel Congress was very close to the new main train station and 5 minutes walking to metro. . They don´t charge too much for breakfast but there are lots of cafee and bars to go in the new main station, plus a commercial center. Basic but clean rooms, affordable stay and helpful staff. Noisy because it is in the main... More

The hotel isn't in great shape and the room was tiny. We barely had space to open our suitcases. The tv is very old but the white bedding was clean (very important). But the receptionist was very helpful and it's very easy to get to trains/ subway/ busses.

Hotel Congress was very close to the train station and a good walk to downtown Vienna. They charge too much for breakfast but they do have the market cornered in that department because there isn't really anywhere around to buy breakfast in the morning. Clean rooms, affordable stay and helpful staff.

Staying in Wieden

Neighborhood Profile
Wieden
The fourth district combines elegant tradition with contemporary style and relaxed living. More than a dozen town palaces and churches such as St. Charles Borromeo have added glamour to a neighborhood known for its traditional retail and crafts shops, taverns, cafés. Wieden is also home to Naschmarkt, Vienna’s largest street market. Many bohemian types have found their way to Wieden: meet them in trendy cafés and bars, shop alongside them for vintage items, enjoy Wien Museum’s and Kunsthalle’s modern temporary exhibitions, and hang out with the bees at Vienna’s most beautiful urban garden, Karlsgarten.
