I enjoyed my stay at the Mate Dependace last year (forgot to write a review). This hotel is close to a metro stop and it's located in the centre. Vienna has a good metro network, so as long as you have a metro stop in the neighbourhood don't hesitate... The hotel rooms were average to good and the noise from... More

It has very simple and small but clean rooms and a good breakfast in another hotel 3 minutes away from it. The access to the center of the city was pretty much easy. It is 8 minutes walk from the nearest metro station. For a few days it was ok.

he hotel looks very poorly, it needs restoration. The images displayed do not reflect the truth. The breakfast is served at another hotel, 500 m away. The single room is so small that you can barely enter with your lagguage.

I was there for 3 weeks on September 2015. The staff was very friendly and polite. The rooms are clean. The building needs to be restored as it was crappy. Broken bathroom parts, small room and bed. No facilities. I had a breakfast including room but i had to walk to another hotel for this as there is no breakfast... More

The only good thing about this hotel is the location that is relatively close to the city center. Upon entering the room we found the bathroom floor covered with water. We requested and received a replacement room. Doors, curtains, furniture in the room were dirty. Courts in the dining room where we were served breakfast were dirty. Generally sloppy and... More

A hotel very well located, surrounded by supermarkets with kind and helpfull staff. The double room was well dimensioned. Comfortable bed. Old but usefull furniture. Small fridge that you can use. Quite clean hallway, room and bed sheets/towels. Has elevator. Minuses: wi-fi available only in the lobby. Rooms seem a little bit clairaudient but I think it was because other... More

Well, the location of the hotel is quite good.. About 5 mins from the centre using the tram, 20 minutes walking (distance is from hotel to university). It was very warm (no aircondition) and it is impossible to sleep with open windows, due to noise from traffic. It was clean, but walls had signs of wear etc.. Well, I needed... More

Pros: cheap and clean rooms. Cons: small rooms, hard beds, no single sheets, wait one minute and more for hot water, no parking for car, no onsite breakfast as included at partner hotel three blocks away. No a/c. No wifi in rooms. The distance from downtown is about one mile.

Well, for 1 night sleepover was quite OK. The room was clean, pillows soft and bathroom was in the room - also clean with fresh white towels. Only our big lamp in the room was broken, but there were 3 smaller, with enough light. And in bathroom -shower was spilling. There were also a TV and a mini fridge (empty)... More

Hotel is in good position, not too far from Vienna center. Street train station is 100 metars from it. You can buy 24 hours Vienna ticket for all their street trains, metro, busses, for less than 8€. Hotel has a bit strange smell, walls are dirty, but the rooms are cleand every day. Hotel is old, and all furniture in... More

Staying in Ottakring

Neighborhood Profile
Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
