What a gem this hotel is. This was our last stop on our wedding/honeymoon trip, after spending 3 1/2 weeks in Greece. From the moment we walked in the front door, until we left three days later, we were treated like royalty by everyone connected with this hotel. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, with the most comfortable beds... More

We spent Christmas '06 at the Kaiserin Elisabeth at the beginning of our trip to Austria and were completely enchanted with it. From the wonderfully helpful front desk staff to the beautiful, large and high ceilinged rooms - it was exactly what we had hoped for. Being so close to the centre of the Aldtstadt was great during the festive... More

My wife needed to attend a conference in Vienna, and I had three days of work to do on my computer. We picked Hotel Kaiserin Elisabeth off a Web site because it was close to her conference location and promised a good Internet connection. Well, it turned out that we had booked one of the best hotel experiences we have... More

We stayed at the Kaiserin Elisabeth in May. It is a lovely hotel and it appears that all renovations have been completed. The staff is very friendly and the hotel is very well located. Our son and his wife stayed at a 5 star hotel just 2 minutes from ours. They paid twice as much as we did and their... More

When my regular hotel in Vienna, Konig von Ungarn, was fully booked for Easter week, I decided to try Hotel Kaiserin Elisabeth based on TripAdvisor recommendations. Sometimes, though, you have the unfortunate experience of encountering a good hotel when it's not at its best. This was one of those times. My experience was as disappointing as it was regretable, as... More

My daughter and I stayed here last week for two nights on a side trip from Prague and true to others' reviews, we found this hotel to be charming, magnificently located, and reasonably priced (lovely breakfast included). Unfortunately, the hotel lobby and breakfast hall are undergoing renovations (we knew this beforehand), so we did not get to experience these. I... More

So many positive reviews already, but here are some other factors that make the Kaiserin Elisabeth special: the best hotel lift we've encountered - very fast, hardly ever busy, and seemingly noiseless (our room was directly opposite). The mini-bar is very reasonably priced (a decent sized bottle of beer for under £1-75). When the mini-safe played up, the very helpful... More

Reading all the other reviews, I had no hesitation in booking this hotel for a 2 night stay. Imagine my surprise, when I had to enter the hotel by the staff entarnce and was checked in at the security control desk. The quick answer - the lobby and most other rooms on the ground floor are being renovated with construction... More

I have stayed at this hotel the last four times that I have visited Vienna. As others have said on this forum, the location is right in the center of Vienna and the modern rooms, with high ceilings and double doors, are spacious, very quite and always spotlessly clean, with flawless air conditioning. The staff has always been very helpful... More

The Kaiserin Elisabeth is a small hotel with a lot of class. It is centrally located just off the pedestrian area of Vienna. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet each morning was more than adaquate. LDC flat panel TVs in the rooms are a very nice touch. I stayed at the Kaiserin Elisabeth for 3 nights... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
