We have been to this hotel several times and its an excellent choice for visiting Vienna-perhaps 50 yards from the metro and only around 150 to the Stephensplaz and all the central attractions its a warm friendly well appointed and comfortable hotel. The rooms are good and have good facilities. Note there is no restaurant but its location offers easy... More

We love this hotel it's located center of sightseeing site and also close to station (200 meter ). Decoration of the room is classic and there are small living room. Room has bath ran as well. Staff is old but seems professional. If we can go back. We will go back this hotel for sure.

It was not my first time in Vienna and I chose this "gem" hotel mainly because of its location. I was not sure what the weather would be like and I wanted to be in the city center. It turned out to be a great choice in all aspects. Clean , spacious room (we had a triple), great wi-fi quality... More

Hotel Kaiserin Elisabeth is a top flight hotel in the most perfect location in all of Vienna. It is easily accessible by car/taxi, yet it is probably only about 500 steps from Kaerntnerstrasse, the very popular shopping/restaurant area. The Hotel staff is outstanding from desk to bellman to housekeeping, etc. Email communication is outstanding as well. Easily our first choice... More

I spent two nights just before Christmas. Just steps (50 may be too many) from Saint Stephens, the heart of the city. Historic, beautiful, and clean it is very worth your while when staying in Vienna. The night staff was exceptional in their help and explanations, truly professional. The lounge was in truly Viennese style. No wonder the Empress Elisabeth... More

The hotel was all it promised. Bang in the centre within seconds walk from shops , food and history. The staff were super friendly and able to recommend and book what ever you needed. It felt more like a boutique friends hotel. We would gladly stay there again.

No cons, only pros: Location: Centrally located downtown on a side street near St. Stephan's Cathedral and the pedestrian zone. Style: Historic hotel that has hosted a number of famous guests over the years. Suited to guests looking for a very quiet hotel with old-fashioned Viennese charm. Rooms are clean and traditionally furnished and have down-feather bedding (fortunately no bedspreads... More

The Kaiserin Elizabeth is an elegant old property located 2 minutes walk to the St Stephens cathedral, e.g., the best central location in Vienna. This hotel is impeccably clean and well run. Lovely central hotel with a friendly team of staff. Nothing was a problem. Rooms are large, clean and comfortable. There are a load of lovely places to eat and drink and most tourist sites are within walking distance. Will def return there if staying again in Vienna.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
