Firstly, the location. Mere steps from the Cathedral, U Bahn, dozens of restaurants of all varieties. Handy to all of Vienna by public transport. The front desk staff are pleasant and helpful. The room was quiet and spacious. Bathroom was also large and functional. A/C worked well. I prefer to open the large windows .beds comfy. Breakfast was varied and... More

The Hotel Kaiserin Elisabeth is a small, beautiful hotel located right off a major pedestrian, cafe filled street, around the corner from St, Stephan's Cathedral and a five minute stroll from the Opera House. The rooms are large for European hotels and the hotel staff is extremely helpful and friendly. We had a complicated problem printing our boarding passes (... More

Lovely hotel in the heart of Vienna. Great breakfast and lovely service. Able to get fabulous tickets for a concert. Highly recommend. Great bathroom and opulent room. Made our next hotel (also lovely) look like we were moving in a different world.

We went to Vienna to listen to the Addison Singers (from London) sing the Mozart Requiem in St Stephen's Cathedral just round the corner from the hotel. What a thoroughly wonderful experience! The Kaiserin Elisabeth was a charming hotel, very comfortable and so conveniently situated. The staff were most helpful. We loved Vienna, too and would happily return to see... More

Breakfast was superior!! You can walk easily to so many sights. Room was large and very comfortable. Loved it!

Had a great stay at the hotel. It's centrally located and an easy walk from the metro train station. We had a lovely huge room - 102. The bed was comfy, air conditioning worked well and the shower had great pressure. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very nice and well laid out.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2015

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in October. Lovely old building, convenient to everything. Room was comfortable and spacious for European city, and service was impeccable. Bedroom was classic and beautiful 'old european' style furniture which we loved, and did not have a 'generic' hotel room vibe. Breakfast options were wide ranging and delicious. Only downside was the... More

A very elegant hotel right in the centre of things. My room was very comfortable and very clean and the staff extremely pleasant. Very good breakfasts. I look forward to visiting beautiful Vienna again and will certainly be staying here.

My wife and I stayed for 6 nights in March 2015 - second visit, will definitely go back if in Vienna again! Lovely old building (not glass and chrome!), refurbished and comfortable rooms, excellent service (both reception/concierge and room), really good breakfast! Centrally situated 1 block from Stephansplatz, so very convenient. Only problem is some street noise at night and... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
