I stayed here with a group of friends. We found the location just right - near the Danube canal and 10 minutes from the centre in a busy but not noisy street. We all had single rooms which were very clean and comfortable. It's the oldest hotel in Vienna and has many interesting antiques dotted around the place. The staff... More

Great location, about 10 minute walk to St. Stephan Cathedral and walking distance to all attractions. Very professional staff, breakfast was fantastic with very good choices. All in all, great place to stay in Vienna.

Enjoy being a fifteen-twenty minute walk from town centre. Very helpful staff; on call all the time. We had special dietary requirements and they were there for us. Lots of local people use this hotel for meetings and eating out; you kind of feel the quality all around, yet very unabtrusive. There is even a small, quiet library near the... More

I have stayed in several hotels in Vienna which I have been fortunate to visit many times. In this one I have stayed twice .On excellent location, about 10 minutes walking distance from the center of Vienna and also next to Swedenplats where someone has easy access to metro and tram .With decor evoking the era of Austrian empire, with wonderfully... Dear Giorginaki, We are glad to learn that you keep returning to Vienna and that you already visited us the second time. As you wrote the Hotel Stefanie is a traditional house with more than 400years of history. The Schick family has been collecting antiques as well as paintings and sculptures for years and exhibits them at the hotel, which... More

Location was top, close to the centre in quiet neighbourhood. The walk from the centre to the hotel is even late in the evening doable, even though the area around the Ubahn Swedenplatz feels a bit sleazy and dirty. The hotel has old and new parts. We had a double room, looking out on the courtyard. So it was quiet... More

Stayed here over New Years 2014 and had the loveliest time. It's a beautiful old school hotel in a great location close to the centre of Vienna. The rooms are a bit dated, but we kind of expected this in such an old hotel, but it is clean, the bathroom was great and the breakfast was fantastic- there was a... More

Very charming hotel. Extremely efficient an friendly staff. Perfect breakfast. Very clean rooms with all equipment in perfect shape. But too hot to sleep... Free and very fast wifi. Cheap for what you get. 5 min walk to Schwedenplatz with tram and Ubahn. 20 min walk from Stephansdom. Perfect for sightseeing.

This hotel is very beautiful and the interior has a classic touch. The service is great. The breakfast is fantastic. The location is also good as it's not far from tourist area. It's only a few minutes to the Airport express bus station.

This hotel is in the Second District, so not absolutely downtown, but it's only a few minutes' walk to the Stephansdom in the centre. It's also only a few minutes' walk from the airport bus at Schwedenplatz. Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city center and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theaters, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
