I have mixed feelings about this place, which I think is rated a bit higher on TripAdvisor than it deserves. First, the pros: --it's well located in a nice neighborhood a few minutes walk from the Pilgramgasse metro station (which is 2-3 stops from most big sights in Vienna and 1-3 stops from the stations where you'd change trains to... After being delayed leaving Tokyo and then arriving in Vienna to have missed my connecting flight to London, Austrian Airlines put me up in this fantastic funky hotel for the night. The service was excellent as was the cleanliness, the room, the food. Not a bad word can be said! Well located in Vienna too1 It's a little confusing upon... More

Lovely ambiance in the lobby and restaurant but small rooms and tiny windows. Beds however are comfortable and air conditioning / bathroom facilities were fine. Wifi is a bit sporadic and slow. Also a major downside is that there is no minibar or room service on offer.

Dear Gergana, thank you very much for having taken your time giving us feedback here on tripadvisor. I am glad that your overall experience was a good one. Indeed we dont have minibars in the rooms, but we do have Maxibars on each floor with very reasonable priced items (i.e. 1€ for chips, chocolate, bottle of mineral water). We do... More

The staff is very nice and friendly when available (not very efficient, that's why they seemed occupied a lot). Cool public areas, made to look modern (the lobby looks like a alternative bar with loads of different styles mixed). The guests are addressed uncomplicated and in a “young” language, which is a nice change compared to the soulless fake hotel-speak... More

This by far is one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. The rooms are so small that when you open your bags there is no room to move. They claim to be 4 star but there are no basic facilities ( e.g. kettle, iron ) provided or service (helping with luggage). The foyers are dark and gloomy.... More

This is not a glitzy 5 star+ hotel but rather a modern, funky hotel with a difference. I loved my stay here. The service was great - the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was great. The 24hr bar and general area, including a pool table and a pair of iMacs, was a great place to meet up with... More

The hotel is very good! The room (room size is good, not too small) was very clean and comfortable, with a great shower! Excellent breakfast, with several types of breads, fruits, iogurts, different cheeses, bacon, scrambled eggs, etc. They offer a free wifi, but the connection is quite slow. The location is good, if you don't mind to take the... More

Overall Summary – 5/5 What a cool find the Pentahotel Vienna was! From the distinctive and colourful lobby area (you check in at the bar, nice!) to the quirkily designed rooms, this hotel is certainly unique. The staff are very welcoming and do an excellent job in all areas and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Finding the Hotel – 4/5... More

The place was lovely , very modern and relaxed. The staff were really nice and it wasn't too far out of town . The bar area was really trendy great choice of beverages too. The hotel is very nice, few minutes walk from U-Bahn station, maybe 15-20 minutes walk from Mariahilfer street, great breakfast and great bar in the reception ;) The hotel is definitely different from other Vienna's hotels...

Staying in Margareten

Neighborhood Profile
Margareten
This former working class district blends hip eateries and avant-garde cinema with a time travel into 1950s Vienna. Feel the district’s pulse at Margaretenhof and Schlossquadrat. 19th-century Margaretenhof is a local icon, yet has very non-Viennese architecture with its brick structure and cast-iron verandas. The nearby urban Renaissance castle of Schlossquadrat houses several restaurants. In the summer you can sit in its romantic shady courtyard over Schnitzel and Kracherl (traditional fizzy syrup). Siebenbrunnenplatz and its surrounding shops and grocery stores have remained virtually unchanged in the past 60 years: taking a walk there is like stepping into a 1950s film set. Speaking of movies, head to avant-garde cinema Filmcasino in the evening. It often stages foreign language cult films.
