If you can avoid this hotel, do it! The price is outrageously expensive for a old, dirty and unpleasant hotel. The second I walked in the room I wanted to leave, and I didn't know yet the elevator was so loud, it would wake me up at night! Needs MAJOR upgrading or a whole different price. Breakfast is as basic... More

Dear Madame, We regret that you were such dissatisfied with your stay. We would like to take a position: 1) we are in the middle of the main shopping street, Mariahilferstraße, the center is about 15-20 min by walk away or 2 stations with the metro, which takes just several minutes to the center,...if this is still too far, we... Instead of writing too much on this, I'd like to briefly give a list of pros and cons. Pros: Great location Close to Ubahn or Metro stations. The hotel street is a charming place for walking at nights, full of stores to buy souvenirs, clothes, and groceries. Almost near the Leopold Museum, Marine Museum, and the rest. Easy to get... More

Dear Sir/Madame, First of all, we are glad that you stayed in our hotel and for your feedback. We have a substantial range at breakfast, 4 kinds of bread, 3 kinds of cheese and 3 kinds of ham (all of this we buy every day freshly from a good bakery), also fresh eggs, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, hot sausages, many... The room I stayed in was not classic room but an apartment. The hotel is on one of the stores of the old building in Maria Hilfer stasse. Apartment was clean. Even though the hotel is on noisy street, you can sleep very well. We took breakfast and it was OK.I can realy recommend this hotel because location is more... More

The location can't be beat. Great vicinity to transit, shopping, and food. Staff are very nice and helpful. The rooms are nice and well appointed. Rooms are spread out and in different places throughout he building. A bit confusing. They have wireless but it is not much. Spotty and very slow.

I spent 4 nights in this hotel and for sure I'll stay there again in the future. It's location is perfect, about middle of Mariahilferstrasse (shopping), and although it's a no frills hotel is clean, quiet and has a team of dedicated people. Here, I'd like to thank Mr.Muir, the manager for his help and to Anna. I gave only... More

It appears many of the negative reviews of Haydn were written a while ago. I do not see how anyone could criticize the rooms. Clean, comfortable bed, excellent shower, good breakfast, pleasant staff, quiet (Exceot for 1 morning of street work) we were there for 4 nights and loved the location...close to subway altho we usually walked. No complaints at... More

We stayed for three nights and the overall experience was better than my initial forebodings, however: the hotel rooms are all on the top floor, and ours had four big (unopenable) skylights in the ceiling with very thin blinds, resulting in a very cold room in the winter and a very hot one in the summer! There was only one... More

We spent three nights here when we first arrived in Vienna. As others have stated, the location is great. We were not far from a U-bahn stop, which made getting around the city quite easy. We walked to the Westbahnhof to get our Eurail passes validated, but when moving on with luggage, we took the U-bahn. Our room had air-conditioning... More

I stayed and extra night in Vienna and had to find something fast over Easter Weekend. I booked this online and went I arrived I was a bit stressed ~ as the sign said pension. Normally I have found those to be more of a shared bathroom/hostel experience. However, this was not the case. The reception is on the 2nd... More

We stayed at the Haydn Hotel for 2 nights in July and had a very pleasant stay. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and personally shown to our room. We were pleased with the room, there was space for our bags with still enough room to have a comfortable stay. The bathroom was new and very clean. The... More

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighborhood Profile
Mariahilf
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the center. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theater decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
