Should be a 3 stars but I rated this hotel for a 4 stars because of the friendly staff and excellent breakfast also its location is great. Limited onsite parking is 15 Euro per day until noon but I was allowed to park until 6pm after our check out time. Our room with window facing the main street, I like... More

The hotel is in a good position with a tram stop just in front of it. In the quartier some nice restaurants and supermarket. The staff is nice and kind. The room could be better.. Small double room, old shower. The swimminpool is small but nice especially if you have children and want to enjoy with them.. Basic breakfast and... More

Described as being in an 'up and coming area', which it most definitely is not! On the plus side tram leaves/departs from just outside the hotel every few minutes and goes directly into the city centre (only 10 mins). Arrived for four night stay with my daughter having booked a twin room and given a small double. This was rectified... More

I stayed here for 4 nights as a package with British Airways holidays. I arrived earlier so my room was not ready. I left my luggage in their storage room and came back after some time. Room size ok. nice hot shower with great water pressure, big bathroom, enough storage space and the bed ok...Is a spanish brand who owns... More

Out of 6 hotels in 8 days this has probably been the worst. Pros: all mandatories are barely there. Swimming pool. Cons: hard bed, breakfast is too scarce in choice, 25 german speaking channels on tv and 2 spanish, micro gym, night reception fails, Area is about 20 min walk from city center. We had dinner in a decent meat... More

I stayed at the hotel for three nights as part of a BA flight/stay package. The positives are that the room and bathroom were clean with a decent desk and desklight which was useful. The staff on reception were helpful. I thought the buffet breakfast offered a good selection. The no.44 tram service into the town centre was also a... More

The Hotel Exe is a great little hotel in a working class area of Vienna. A local market is a two minute walk away with a distinctly Turkish feel, running into a small square with cafes around it. A Spar shop and launderette are three minutes away. The hotel sits on the number 44 tram line which will take you... More

Hotel Vienna Exe had many good points: short walk to metro & then train to airport taking maximum one hour. The tram stopped outside hotel for short trip into centre. We walked one day and it took us about 35 - 40 mins at a good pace. Staff were friendly & breakfast was usual continental style...nothing to write home about,... More

The room was very small, the bed was hard. Only German and Spanish TV channels, no English! The buffet breakfast was excellent value for 10 Euros, Good selection and excellent coffee. All towels and bedding changed daily. The location is perfect with a very regular tram (number 44) outside for fast access to the centre of Vienna with its superb... More

Staying in Ottakring

Neighborhood Profile
Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
