Highly recomended for budget stay in Vienna! Great location! The staff very friendly, rooms are clean! Will stay there for sure in future! The breakfast was simple but ok-for those who complains- just go to next street to Kempinsky!

We booked through a travel agency and must admit we were silly enough to not look at trip advisor before hand. We didn't even stay at the hotel. After walking into our room, I smelled a foul odour and inspection of the bathroom indicates it is rarely cleaned. We decided then to find another hotel. We are not fussy ,... More

The brochure says that Goldener Baer is three stars. No it is not. However it is clean, good location and quite cheap. Easy to get to the city by tram or underground. Breakfast available at extra cost. Did not try as there are several cafes for having it. Might stay there again.

Having read the reviews I was prepared for the worst. The room was cleaner than expected and staff helpful. The bed was poor very springy but if u ask they will provide a foam mattress to put on top. Breakfast was not good horrible coffee and brick hard rolls. I gave breakfast a miss due to the brilliant location lots... More

Dirty and small room, noisy room, bathroom with old towels, and poor breakfast, this hotel has to be totally rethinked and renewed. It is pity because its location is not so bad to visit Vienna. My advice is to chose another hotel.

All staffs don't give you a warm reception! The rooms are very small and dirty , Poor breakfast and in a word it's not a hotel! But the most important thing, they ruined the first day of my trip just because they thought my voucher had been fake and finally after about 10 hours the manager said Sorry! It happened... More

Seeing all the aweful reviews, I almost gave it a miss and am glad I didnt. Yes - its very basic. If your after luxury, look elswhere. But if all you want is a comfortable centrally located clean and pleasant place to lay your head while exploring Vienna, this place is quite perfectly adequate. Beds could be bigger and more... We booked through Thomas Cook who had two ticks next to this hotel in their brochure so that obviously is not a guide to anything. This is not a clean place to stay!!!! Our first room had insects crawling under the pillows so they moved us to another room. Both rooms had minimal very poor quality furniture and fittings, besides... More

The lady at the Reception was so rude. Firstly I was amazed by the location until we reached the hotel. One level up with suitcases, ok, but the rooms and especially bathrooms were not clean at all. Not very helpful staff. They were more likely bored by this job. The breakfast was a rip off. The only consolation was that... More

So I looked at reviews before arriving here, and having set my expectations low, I was pleased enough with the hotel. I chose the hotel for proximity and price and in those respects I was happy. I had just finished stay in 10 bed coed hostel room so I was happy for clean, quiet, privacy, and my own bath. Down... More

Staying in Serviten Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
Serviten Quarter
The Serviten Quarter is an inner city neighborhood with many private charms. Popular with French and American expats, Sigmund Freud’s neighborhood boasts his former practice and apartments, now turned into a museum. Stunning Liechtenstein Garden Palace houses the private art collection of Prince Adam of Liechtenstein. Romantic Strudlhofstiege close to the palace is a fantastic photo spot. With their small independent shops and eateries, the main streets of Liechtensteinstrasse, Porzellangasse and Servitengasse reveal much of this area’s character. Peek into baroque Serviten Church, with its richly decorated dome and walls. At the Old Jewish cemetery in Seegasse you can see one of the most precious cemeteries in Europe with tombstones almost 500 years old.
