I stayed at this hotel during a few days' getaway trip to Vienna. I have very little negatives about this hotel. I was in a mini suite and the room was large and spacious with all the amenities one would need. The hotel itself is in a beautiful old building with a gorgeous old staircase in the middle. The breakfast... More

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and had absolutely no problems. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, especially Doris on reception who went that extra mile. On a day trip to Saltzburg they gave us a packed breakfast as we left early morning and an umbrella in case it rained - it did!! Great location,... More

First trip to Vienna and stayed here on the recommendation of our daughter.Excellent experience. Our room on the 5th floor was clean and comfortable with a very comfortable bed.It was serviced well during our stay. The breakfast offering was first class and the staff on duty were very efficient and professional. The "early bird menu" i.e eat before 6pm was really nice... More

The hotel Kummer is in a perfect location being right on top of a metro station, and close to trams and buses. Despite its grandeur, there were a few things that were not quite right. My room (211) had a cracked washbasin plus a cracked tile over the bathtub. There was one lamp out in there and the tissue dispenser... More

We can't say enough good about the Kummer. It is a beautiful old hotel. Charming, classy, and perfectly located. We loved everything about it and would return anytime. This would be our hotel of choice in Vienna. We arrived in Vienna by night train at 8:30 in the morning. We had a wonderfully warm welcome from the lady at the... More

It´s wasn´t very easy to write this review since (almost) everything about our stay in Kummer Hotel was just perfect. We really loved it!! It´s in a walking distance from the westbahnhof and from the city heart, there is a subway station in front of the hotel and it´s located on a pedestrian street with lots of stores where there... As a frequent traveler, I value a excellent staff, they make the difference. The personell in; lobby, bar and breakfast room (restaurant) make the stay a pleasant one. We gathered in this hotel from different locations in Europe, and our rooms was neatly arranged. The last part of the group came late, and the bar personell arranged with servings despite... More

Great hotel, right in the centre of Vienna's main shopping street. Underground station is 30 metres from hotel. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Breakfast was excellent. Nice bar with seating outside in the main street.

We stayed for four nights in early June 2015. The hotel is in a period building on a corner, one side of which is in Mariahilferstr. which is pedestrianised and therefore quiet. This is a shopping street but with some small bars, ice cream bars and street cafes. The hotel is spacious, has a lovely open staircase, and modern dining... More

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighborhood Profile
Mariahilf
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the center. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theater decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
