We found that this hotel was comfortable and in a good location for exploring Vienna. It's right by the underground station and tram and bus stops. Also you can walk easily around the central part of Vienna from here. The breakfast is great, though at peak times they have to open up an annex which is a little further away... More

Extremely nice structure. Enormous fancy room with super comfortable enormous beds. But then the tv was broken, the safety box was broken, nobody in the staff was able to fix the issues. The breakfast room was overcrowded but the worst was that the coffee machine was broken two mornings in a row and the second morning there was a lady-manager... More

The rooms are spacious and clean and the bathrooms are a good size. Wifi works well. Tv's are outdated and need to be replaced withmodern tv's . Minibar is basic . Coffee making facilities a plus. The hotel has a classy feel to it and the staff are very helpful. Breakfast is first class with ample choices of good quality... More

However met by a slightly irritated receptionist and an oldfashioned but large room, we eventually got accustomed to the quite Central location, great breakfast and quiet atmosphere. Ended upp satisfied and like to come back!

I was very satisfied from my staying at De France Hotel. Everything was perfect - the rooms are spacious, cozy and very comfortable, equipped with everything a guest could need for a pleasant stay; the cleanliness was at top level; the staff is very helpful, smiling and always ready to help; the breakfast was rich and delicious - everyday there... On a recent trip to Vienna we had the good fortune of staying at the hotel for 6 nights. This is reasonably priced accommodation within walking distance of many of the sights to be seen in the centre of the city. The room was clean. large and comfortable, the staff were terrific and very helpful, breakfasts were fresh and tasty... More

We stayed 6 nights at the Hotel De France, and despite some negative reviews on Trip Advisor it was a gem of a hotel ! The management and staff were always helpful and gave us a free upgrade to a Junior Suite. This was on two floors and had a small balcony overlooking the main road.. ..Spacious and on the... More

We were booked here as part of a "deluxe" bike tour along the Danube River. Our experience at the Hotel De France, while not terrible, was far from "Deluxe." My first impressions of the Hotel De France were underwhelming. Kind of a dated older hotel. Service seemed pretty average. Rooms were nothing to write home about. I think the bike... More

The receptionists were helpful & the hotel was grandly fitted out and clean, as well as being well placed for us to explore Vienna. Our room was okay for our needs, clean and cleaned well on a daily basis, despite the maid trying to come in at 8am! The TV was ancient and fixed to the wall almost at ceiling... More

Staying in Serviten Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
Serviten Quarter
The Serviten Quarter is an inner city neighborhood with many private charms. Popular with French and American expats, Sigmund Freud’s neighborhood boasts his former practice and apartments, now turned into a museum. Stunning Liechtenstein Garden Palace houses the private art collection of Prince Adam of Liechtenstein. Romantic Strudlhofstiege close to the palace is a fantastic photo spot. With their small independent shops and eateries, the main streets of Liechtensteinstrasse, Porzellangasse and Servitengasse reveal much of this area’s character. Peek into baroque Serviten Church, with its richly decorated dome and walls. At the Old Jewish cemetery in Seegasse you can see one of the most precious cemeteries in Europe with tombstones almost 500 years old.
