Hi, I just stayed at the hotel and it has a classic feel, not to new but very good. Amazing location and kind service. Breakfast is expensive if paid for extra. Lobby is nice and rooms have space, maybe the worst are the small ones at the back, but the rest is very good

Excellent central location near university and historical sites and public transport. Large room, excellent breakfast buffet. Small fitness not mentioned and not easy to find on 6th floor - little used. WiFi free but needs new name/pw each day and very slow. TV box very small. Towels not changed from previous guest on 1st day. On the 1st floor, it's... More

The hotel is in an ideal central location, with nice front and a very nice looking lobby. It is an old style building fitting in with the style of Vienna but that is where the romanticism ends. The rooms are quite large but the double room consists of two single beds pushed together which are also of very poor quality,... More

The outside of this hotel is beautiful like so many buildings in Vienna. Unfortunately, the rooms did not live up to the standard I was expecting. The staff were very helpful and friendly and professional. In our room the bath/shower were across the hall from the toilet room and both outside the main bedroom. I guess they call it a... More

Hotel de France - oddly enough didn't notice any French guests - is roomy, quiet, clean. Has lovely chandeliers in lounges. Has pianist from Bratislava playing some evenings. Bargirl, a stand-in for the holidaying regular barman, was not sure what constitutes a brandy. Our room, rather badly lit, was called a Superior Double, was only OK. I don't know what... More

A decent location with only a 10 minute walk to the centre and next to the gardens and the UBahn station. The hotel is looking a little dated though with our room looking tired and a very old TV. Breakfast was included as part if our room and was pretty decent but wouldn't have wanted to pay full price for... More

We spent Christmas 2013 in Vienna and spent 6 nights at Hotel De France. The room was surprisingly large and the bathroom was terrific. We had our Christmas Eve dinner in the dining room....delicious buffet with wonderful desserts. It is within walking distance of Stephanplatz, Hofberg and Museums Quarter. The breakfast buffet had a vast selection of good choices and... More

Near the center, good quality of hotel. The cleanliness on average, nice mesonet rooms. The staff is typically for Austria tardy. Breakfast is alright. Terrible bar with incompetent staff, nasty cocktails and disgusting wines. Austrian wines are very good, but not here Hotel for a sleeping

Fantastic base for our 3 night trip to Vienna. Within walking distance of Stephanplatz & Museums Quarter. Right next to underground which links to rest of city & speed train to airport. Lovely breakfast which sustained us throughout the day without the need for lunch. We had a junior suite which was particularly nice as bedroom was upstairs in mezzanine... More

My family and I stayed at this hotel for a week. We booked 3 rooms, all the rooms were spacious and clean. It's location was perfect, one minute away from the metro, walking distance to the shopping centre and multiple attractions, and had quite a few good restaurants nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was... More
