The Hotel de France is on the Ring, right above an underground station. But all the attractions of the city center are in walking distance as well. The hotel is pretty old but still in good condition. We had a very spacious room (101). Take into account that in rooms at the front (like this one) the traffic on the... More

We just back from family trip to Vienna and want to provide our appreciation for great services received from Hotel de France Wien. Everything work excellent for us: Reception check in/out and always willing to help with travel directions, bellboys, great breakfast, clean and spacious room , transfer to airport, etc. Thank you all, we will defiantly stay again in... Difficult for me to understand the reasons underlying the difference between reception and the rest of the staff. The reception staff is rude. On the contrary the rest are great! Could be different management. That is the main reason I'd never return. As it can be my personal experience I would not discourage anyone of staying at this hotel. As... More

Let's start with the pros: the duplex rooms under the roof are rather large. They have a reasonably fast free internet. The breakfast is varied and overall satisfactory. The location is not bad, still within walking distance of the nicest parts of the city. The cons are mainly: - a poor quality of the bed - very cheap furnitures in... More

Lack of enthusiasm from the staff. "Was not able to lock the door from the outside nor inside. Reception just glanced at me and comment, that was no problem. After some time and when the problem should have been fixed. When's I got back to reception to report the same problem. They once more reported that there was no problem... More

Nice old-fashioned grand hotel in a good location on the Ring, next to a U-Bahn station and a major tram interchange. Walk straight into the historic centre or take a tram round the ring directly to the Museum Quarter, the Belvedere, the Opera and many more. Good check-in, good ambience, helpful staff. We had a Superior Double: huge room with... More

We booked a deluxe double room and it was very uncomfortable because it had so many stairs in the room. Although we booked a double bed they gave us a twin bed and when we asked them they told us that they don't have any room available. The air conditioning was awful. In fact, it didn't work at all and... More

I enjoyed this hotel. Good quality rooms, next to U-Bahn and tram, close to all the things you want to see in Vienna, just a few minutes walk from Rathaus. Internet in the rooms, but with very low bandwidth. So do not expect much access.

Public areas are OK. Limited offering in the the bar. We had a junior suite as it was a special occasion. Carpet was very badly stained as was the floor in the bathroom and toilet - asked for this to be cleaned, but nothing happened. However staff are friendly. In my opinion needs a bit of work to bring it... More

Staying in Serviten Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
Serviten Quarter
The Serviten Quarter is an inner city neighborhood with many private charms. Popular with French and American expats, Sigmund Freud’s neighborhood boasts his former practice and apartments, now turned into a museum. Stunning Liechtenstein Garden Palace houses the private art collection of Prince Adam of Liechtenstein. Romantic Strudlhofstiege close to the palace is a fantastic photo spot. With their small independent shops and eateries, the main streets of Liechtensteinstrasse, Porzellangasse and Servitengasse reveal much of this area’s character. Peek into baroque Serviten Church, with its richly decorated dome and walls. At the Old Jewish cemetery in Seegasse you can see one of the most precious cemeteries in Europe with tombstones almost 500 years old.
