Great hotel in excellent location near to the Opera and a very easy walk to the Danube. Staff at reception very helpful and will help book any trips etc that you want. Excellent breakfast with superb choice. All in all, a very enjoyable stay made even better by being able to walk from the hotel to all the key attractions... More

Stayed in a mezzanine floor room that directly overlooked the pedestrian mall. The noise from this area at night is unbelievable even with the windows firmly shut. All night you are woken by drunken behaviour, then at 6am the delivery & garbage trucks start driving through the area. During my stay the temperature hit 32 deg and these rooms aren't... More

This is an old but charming hotel right in the center of Vienna. We stayed in a ’classic room’ which is the basic level but it was very nice, roomy and clean. If the bathroom is important in your choice of a place to stay, you will not be dissapointed with this hotel. The bathroom we had was magnificent, very... More

Perfectly located hotel in the historic part of Vienna, very authentic with old lift ( one was broken so most the time I had to climb the 5 floors with the stairs ). Room are large with remodeled bathrooms and very quite. But you should know that most of the rooms don't have AC. Fine with me but when it's... More

This hotel is in a perfect location for visiting Vienna. Unlike Prague and Budapest, Vienna is not centered on the Danube. The tourist area is more inland centering around St. Stephens Cathedral and Stephensplatz. The hotel is located along the plaza stretching from the Opera House to Stephensplatz and beyond. The plaza also veers off to St. Peter's and other... More

Great location in Vienna. Most of the staff was very nice and friendly (the only negative experience we had was with the doorman who didn't rank our rental Opal as high as the Maseratis and Porsches he was watching, and treated us accordingly). Got upgraded to a junior suite, which was very large. The furnishings/decor could use some updating (the... More

I stayed at Astoria Hotel 6 months ago, early December. Centrally located, close to the museums, in the middle of the old city. The room was clean, warm and very comfortable. The breakfast was above average. The only problem was the the lack of soundproof windows. The noise of the trucks and the employees that start working very early (6am) cleaning... More

This centrally located hotel has been restored in a traditional Viennese style and is beautiful. The decor is elegant, restful and tasteful while maintaining all the mod cons required by the average traveller. There is a breakfast room, again decorated in a simple but elegant style and the food is plentiful and fresh. There is a range of cooked and... More

I went with my family and we stayed for 9 days. It was the perfect hotel. In the middle of the old city, within walking distance of almost all the attractions. The staff was very friendly, the rooms are cleaned every day. The breakfast was ok, the standard breakfast that all hotels have. Not sure that it served lunch or... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
