The service, location, and value of this hotel are all unbeatable. The hotel itself is a charming, older building so, like many European hotels, the rooms were on the small side. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Arrived to this hotel after extremely exhausting travels on a quite Monday night Oct 12th, 2015. Opera Suites managed to cancel our initial reservation we had with them and were sold out so put us up in this hotel instead which is located 10 minutes walking distance from them. Upon arrival we had a nice young lady at the desk... More

Stayed here a couple of times because of its central downtown Vienna location. Also the price, I paid 110 Euros for the night I was there this past November.I paid close to that for a room in the vicinity with a shared bathroom. Built around the turn of the century, great character. The rooms are OK, comfortable enough and clean,... More

Four of us stayed here for three nights. We had two rooms. We all loved the high ceilings and spacious rooms. The bathrooms were quite large, with lots of hot water and strong water pressure. Most of the staff were very helpful; there was only one doorman who was rude. The trash men did wake us up in the morning,... More

The Astoria couldn't be any better located, just next door to the Hotel Sacher and Kärnter Strasse walking/shopping street. Also opera and Stephans Cathedral, Imperial palace, Spanish Riding School, etc are within a short walk (about 1 km or less to all). The hotel was very nice, the rooms were good size. The air conditioning worked well, but the ventilation... More

If you read the reviews here you would think that location is the only thing that matters, well if that is the case for you then this hotel is fine. However if you appreciate a pleasant check in experience then forget it , rude and very unwelcoming , the hotel is old fashioned and a little tired. We had an inner... More

Dear Humbert, thank you for your review of our hotel - I am glad you enjoyed your stay overall, You are right - the Hotel Astoria is a traditional Hotel in the Center of Vienna and this Location has a lot of benefits, while there are also some less pleasant fact like the Shopping streets around which really "never sleep".-... The hotel is located perfectly! Walking distances to Opera and Hofburg palace. Service in the hotel is very good too. all the personel are gentle and helpful. For the breakfast you will have to pay exstra, but it is really worth it because breakfast is good, and its better to have a good meals in the morning, because it is... More

I traveled here with my mother in November, so it was off season. The location of this hotel just cannot be beat. We were on a pedestrian walkway, and centrally located near all the major tourist sites, and close to the tram and subway for the more far-flung sites. We did get some weekend noise outside the room on the... More

Since my second trip to Vienna, I stay here. Very close to Opera and subway station, I always enjoy staying at the hotel. Hotel people are very friendly, once I stayed here after one year period, reception desk man told me "Welcome back." I look forward to coming back to the hotel before long.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
