This hotel was prettier and cleaner than expected and way better than in the pictures . breakfast was amazing, better than five stars hotels in romania. It was so close to central attractions too. We loved the candy, the shampagne and the expensive cheeses here. I shall come back for sure.

The Schweizerhof Hotel is located in the very centre of Wien, only two minutes from St. Stephan's Cathedral. We stayed there only for a night in december and...we regret our stay was so short! Our room was nice and confortable even if not so big... Breackfast was exceptional, with everything you can wish. Staff very kindly and professional!

The location is good, the housekeeping good and the breakfast large but average in quality. The front desk staff were not friendly nor very helpful, the WiFi was inconsistent at best, the bathroom is trailer small with a slow drain in the shower, the walls paper thin so you can join in the conversation with your neighbor, or listen to... You'll be right at the center of town here but the standard of the hotel and facilities are very old outdated and not a standard when you pay 100 + Euros for a single room. Better hotels in the area for approx same price.

The bedrooms are clean & comfortable if somewhat small. The bathroom was cramped but the shower was good. On a city break you don't spend much time in your room so it suited us. The desk staff were all friendly & helpful. There is a good buffet breakfast catering for all tastes. Some parts do need redecorating. It is very... More

Awful service, impossibly tiny bathroom, aging hotel, non-existent wi-fi public connection, paid safe, amazingly cheesy decor...the only really good thing was breakfast, well served, varied and good quality.

We were with a Rick Steves tour here on an upper floor for two nights. The hotel is definitely aging, and our room was small, as was the bathroom small. Our room had a window that looked out on the upper abandoned floors of another building. We enjoyed watching the pigeons that roosted over there on the window sills. The... More

This is an "average" hotel for tourists, but you can not say to have been in Vienna if you have not stayed at Schweizerhof. It is located between Stephenplatz (heart) and Schwedenplatz (meeting place) of Vienna You are so much in the center that you will not care about what is inside of the Hotel There is no Gymn, and... This hotel is showing it's age. There is a peculiar smell throughout and the bathrooms are ridiculously small. An average size person cannot sit comfortably on the toilet. The only plus is the location, within a block of the Anker clock.

Rick Steves describes this hotel as "classy"; his definition and mine do not intersect. Unfriendly male receptionists - I couldn't get either one to give me a smile through two days of trying. One evening my husband and I were in the common room reading and the receptionist came through and turned off lights at 9:00pm....obviously wanted us out of... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
