Stayed for one night. Hotel is old fashioned and somewhat run down. Booked a Junior suite which is not a junior suite as I would know it. No separate sitting area but a kitchenette. Staff were very nice but overall not what I would have expected from the Mercure brand

The hotel is convenient to most everything you would want to do in Vienna. The hotel is old and could do with a bit of modernization. The hotel is located on a very busy highway and not well insulated windows. we found the airconditioning wasn't adequate and appeared to be quite old. The rooms was comfortable but in need of... The hotel is convenient to most everything you would want to do in Vienna. The hotel is old and in need of modernization. The walls are thin with the sounds of children yelling and screaming in rooms and running the hallways. The hotel is located on a very busy highway and not well insulated windows. We were happy with the hotel, it is walking distance to everything downtown (about 15 minutes), has parking and free internet. The furniture and rooms are a bit outdated but it didnt matter, everything was clean and nothing was broken or even scratched. Overall a good stay.

A homely Hotel near the city center. With private parking. Bath and equipment a bit outdated Unfortunately, although many times we go every year, we always get very small room, but we always feel well because of the cozy hotel

After 23 hours of travelling it was nice to get a comfy bed, warm shower and a cosy room. Location is great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had no issues with language as all staff seemed to speak English as well.

Vienna is always worth to travel to, even only for one single night. The hotel is close to the Naschmarkt, where you get interesting food from all over the world, sure Schnitzel too! The hotel has a good location, but it is not a 4 star hotel, my categorization would be more 3 stars. The room was clean, but totally... More

Location is superb, rooms are Austrian clean etc, though are quite bit ’90 that has a certain charm to some folk. Funny smell that other reviews would mention might have to come to smoking rooms. In Austria they do smoke. That was service that annoyed me quite a bit: 1. I have a “privilege” of welcome drink that is usually... More

Mercure Secession Wien provides exactly what you'd expect for a long city break: clean room, comfortable bed, friendly staff. Yes, it may look a bit out of date, but what does that matter? It's all about the location. It's right in the heart of the historical quarter, about 5 minutes walk from the Opera House, tonnes of shops and cafes,... More

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighborhood Profile
Mariahilf
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the center. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theater decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
