.Location of Bristol is unbeatable next to opera house and pedestrian shopping area ,spanish riding school ,cathedral etc..lobby is outdated and breakfast room is hideous ,and it is a shame as the building architecture is very nice ! Rooms are decent if you get a renovated one ,bathrooms would need some work! I would recomend the hotel for the location... More

The Bristol excels at it's location-directly across from the opera house. Even after it's recent upgrade there is a bit lacking. Lobby is rather dated and the welcome staff rather reserved. Don't expect to be escorted to your room. Conceirge staff is very good -managed to acquire tickets at last minute to Vienna boys choir mass and Spanish riding school.... More

Dear Reviewer, Thank you very much for your honest and detailed feedback. However, I am truly sorry for the inconveniences you experienced with our Doormen. You may rest assured that I have taken your comment very seriously. I was pleased to learn that our concierge was able to help you with tickets for the boys choir mass and Spanish riding... More

I stayed at the Bristol 2 nights in mid November with my wife and my 5 months young son. Everything was excellent. I'm a frequent 5 star hotel traveller and after a quiet long web research I selected the Bristol instead of the Sacher and The Grand Hotel Wien principally because the Bristol have wider standard rooms. I also didn't... More

We just returned from our 5-day Christmas trip to Vienna. The Bristol hotel is situated in an excellent location-right across the Opera. Our room was huge (in comparison wih other 5-star hotels in Paris or London) , with a view on the Opera, and it accomodated the extra bed for our 5-year old child, leaving enough room for him to... My husband and I stayed at the Bristol more than a decade ago, and the memories of the elegance and old-world fairytale atmosphere eliminated the option of staying anywhere else on our trip to Vienna last month. ...We should have done more research....The hotel, still quite lovely as a slightly dowdy grande dame, cannot possibly be considered in the luxury... We had a fantastic stay in Vienna at the Bristol. This was our splurge hotel of the trip, and it did not disappoint. From the doorman, who shared some great local info, to the concierge, who recommended more than one off-the-beaten-path restaurant, everything was better than we could have asked for. Lovely old grand hotel.

Had such a great experience at the Hotel Bristol! The staff was lovely and provided us with a room facing the opera house. The concierge was so helpful - providing us with terrific food & concert recommendations. The location is central - walking distance to just about everything we wanted to see. I'm also a runner, so the concierge gave... More

A Fine hotel, in the very centre of Vienna, close to absolutely everything. Our room was very large, with 2 bathrooms! Service was excelent, bar lovely (and we could smoke), breakfast OK, but... This is a top priced luxury hotel but is within spitting distance of the Imperial and the Sacher, both of which make the Bristol look a little... More

Second trip to Vienna and we chose the Bristol because of its excellent location right next to the opera house. We treated ourselves to a Penthouse Junior Suite which had a balcony with views of the opera house. It was also possible to see the outdoor screen on which the performances are broadcast every evening! The room was extremely luxurious... More

My husband and I stayed at the Bristol in September 2010 for 3 days. The hotel couldn't be bettter located: subway/bus stop in front of hotel and right off Kaertnerstrasse. The conceirge directed us to a nearby camera shop when we discovered we'd forgotten our charger and also to a nearby Austrian train office saving us from going to the... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
