A must stay. Wonderful views of Vienna from theLoft restaurant and bar. Stayed there for three days. Great food. Very modern, friendly staff. Exotic breakfast buffet. If you don't stay at Sofitel at least go to the loft for the view and food. I'd definitely stay there again

I was thoroughly disappointed with my stay at this hotel in June 2015, particularly after reading the many positive reviews on Tripadvisor. First the good points: The bed was really good- large, comfortable and with quality linen. The decor will divide people. I stayed in a "superior" room that featured black walls and floor; it felt like staying in a... More

Great location, great hotel. Chic and modern, the lobby already is impressive. The room we had faced the old town & the views were really spectacular from the 7th floor. Smartly designed room with large bathroom with rain shower head and a full soaking bath tub and a separate toilet closet. Openly designed space with sliding doors to have privacy.... More

The rooms and service are what you expect from a Sofitel. The hotel itself is a short walk from the center of the old city. Trams and Metro stations are also close by. The hotel bar and restaurant have a spectacular view of the city and and should not be missed.

We had the pleasure of staying for 3 nights at the Sofitel Vienna. Check-in was very smooth and ultra professional. Our room was on the 9th floor overlooking the City. It was a white room, I understand that the aesthetics may not be to everyone's taste but we simply loved it! Had drinks in The Loft roof top bar, restaurant... More

Having stayed in a Sofitel before, I was elated when I found out that Vienna had a Sofitel too! My wife and I would be staying at the Sofitel in Vienna for the last 2 days of our honeymoon (Flitterwochen as the locals call it). Staff was amazing! Polite, kind, attentive, helpful, knowledgeable, and seemingly happy! The gentleman who helped... More

We just stayed at this hotel. The location is perfect since it's about 15-20 minute walk to most tourist sites and right next to a major subway station. The area was safe and we felt safe even walking around after dark. We had a view of the cathedral from our room and the old city. The whole stay was amazing.... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city center and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theaters, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
