The Sofitel is on the Danube Canal, just opposite the historic center city. Easy to walk to everything within the RIngstrasse, and to an Underground station. In the opposite direction, we walked to Prater, where we rented bicycles, and it was an easy ride to the bike paths along the Danube. The hotel is very modern -- the rooms are... More

Just came back from a long wonderful weekend in the Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom. It is our third visit in the Sofitel and it is only getting better and better. The room (we booked a luxury room), the hotel facilities, the amazing breakfast buffet and above all the implacable service are all placing this wonderful hotel as No. 1 in Vienna.... More

Location: Superb because its a short walk over the bridge away from the main city. Hence its away from the hustle and bustle and noise and yet close enough to access many city attractions which are walking distance. Restaurants and chic stores in the neighbourhood. Ferries to Bratislava are virtually at the door. View: Super from the high floors. Basically,... More

If you are looking to get a coffee or adult beverage somewhere where you can see the city of Vienna and still be in the city then you will enjoy the top of the sofitel. They serve dinner up there too but the have very limited open seating if you haven't previously made a reservation.

Very close to the action but out of the fray. Beautiful river views and good blackout curtains. Rooms were modern with great amenities. Bar upstairs was lively and views were great though it was expensive. The gym was modern and bot too crowded as well. We would come back!

The level of personal attention and care was outstanding. The staff went out of its way to ensure that our needs were meet. The breakfast dining in the 18th floor restaurant (the only one that I used) was excellent. After only a couple days the staff new me and prepared my routine items when I came in. The view of... We booked the junior suite for three nights. The room is all-white. We were on the 9th floor. The design was great with large windows a working desk and a sofa in the living-room, a king sized bed in the bedroom, a bose hifi, a smaller than in the living-room modern TV. Behind the bed there was a closet. The... More

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. It was close enough to the convention centre and to the Inner Stadt with the main attractions of the city. It is also across the road from the underground station and the trams, which is so convenient. The standard room is fabulous - immaculate, with so much understated attention to detail. I... More

Very a good choice if you want a good hotel and not extremely pricey. Very close to the shopping area and main sights as just across the bridge you have everything. Its decorated in all white with accents in black. The rooms are very comfortable and large. Staff is extremely friendly. Amazing view from the restaurant.

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city center and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theaters, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
