My wife and I have just returned from a seven night stay at Pension VITIS. This was our first trip to Vienna and it turned out really well. Pension VITIS is not in the busy centre of Vienna. It is in a quiet residental area that was a haven to return to after a busy day walking or travelling. Public... More

Accommodation is pretty good. I have no major complaints. The only thing missing are the shelves on the wall in the kitchen. It's not expensive but mucus purpose and you will not keep things on the floor. Karl is really helpful host. All the best.

I stayed at Pension Vitis for 10 days. Karl, the owner, is such a gracious host that picked me up directly from the airport for a very nominal fee. The room was very spacious with clean bathroom facilities. The small kitchen was also very nice to have! You could go down to one of the corner grocery stores and buy... More

Where to start with this review... so many positives and happy memories! My wife and I planned this holiday for almost a year and we constantly made contact with Karl regarding travel arrangements, shuttle services, places to see etc. Karl is absolutely the best host! Our accommodation was sufficient for my small family and the room was clean, tidy and... More

Pension VITIS is the ideal place to stay while exploring Vienna. The location is conveniently located near all modes of public transportation that takes you straight to the heart of Vienna within minutes. Karl helped us obtain multi-day fare cards that allowed access on the busses, subways, and trams…no rental car was necessary. The room was clean and comfortable and... More

We stayed for a weekend at Pension Vitis and Karl was polite and very helpful throughout our stay. His communication over email was prompt and impeccable and both rooms are comfortably furnished for a stay. The place itself is quite handy for Vienna's attractions - a short bus ride away from the museums and theatres. In all, a wonderful, welcoming... More

The last city on our trip before returning to Australia was Vienna, and our last stay was with Karl at Pension Vitis. An excellent experience. Communications with Karl were clear, helpful and concise from the initial enquiry, through booking, arranging for him to pick us up at the train station, during our stay, and finally when he took us out... We arranged for Karl to pick us up from the train station and he was there - waiting. He also dropped us back after our three day stay. Karl was very helpful - giving us good tips about the public transport and sights. He provided a substantial and tasty breakfast too. Pension Vitis is in an older style building which... More

My wife and I were very impressed with the positive and very complimentary TripAdvisor reviews on Pension Vitis and we made a very early advance booking with Karl for a week in August/September this year. We wanted to have a good look around Vienna before going on to our timeshare swap at the Alpine Club in Schladming. During the run-up... More

We stayed at Pension Vitis for 4 nights in mid-May. Karl is a congenial host who met us at the train station, and gave us very helpful suggestions for getting around Vienna and tourist attractions. He kindly arranged for transit passes to purchase. The B&B is located off the central zone of Vienna, however, a 10 minute bus ride connects... More

Staying in Ottakring

Neighborhood Profile
Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
