This was my second stay at Pension Vitis after many years away from Vienna. I highly suggest the airport pickup, as this removes some stress after a long flight. The central location of this pension is excellent for both business and holiday trips (I have done both). I again found the rooms to be very well appointed, and especially appreciated... More

Starts at the airport. If Karl says he will pick you up, trust him he will. We had a late night flight which arrived very late. Thankfully Karl was there as promised and set up everything to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We usually stay in five star hotels but based on the reviews we decided to give... More

We've been in Vienna for the first time last august, and we booked a room for a couple of weeks. It was more a small apartment than a room, with a little kitchen. The hotel is very comfortable and close to bus stops and underground station, so you can be downtown in few minutes. And last but not least the... More

Karl is a wonderful host always helpful with information, travel passes, airport transfers, places to eat ,available to deliver and pickup to venues at night or in our case being lost. The optional Viennese breakfast is plentiful and delivered on time to either room or outside balcony. We were his guests twice in two years and would return if we... More

Karl was a gracious host and he collected us from the train station and settled us in. There were a lot of tourist books available. Breakfast was not included and we didn't opt for it either. When we read reviews and said it was close to the bus we decided on this place; however, when we got there it seemed... More

The room is spacious and clean. White spotless towel, spacious room with pantry. Karl the owner is nice and responsive in correspondence. Pick up service is available in reasonable price. Shopping mall and underground station nearby.

My wife and I have just returned from a seven night stay at Pension VITIS. This was our first trip to Vienna and it turned out really well. Pension VITIS is not in the busy centre of Vienna. It is in a quiet residental area that was a haven to return to after a busy day walking or travelling. Public... More

Accommodation is pretty good. I have no major complaints. The only thing missing are the shelves on the wall in the kitchen. It's not expensive but mucus purpose and you will not keep things on the floor. Karl is really helpful host. All the best.

I stayed at Pension Vitis for 10 days. Karl, the owner, is such a gracious host that picked me up directly from the airport for a very nominal fee. The room was very spacious with clean bathroom facilities. The small kitchen was also very nice to have! You could go down to one of the corner grocery stores and buy... More

Where to start with this review... so many positives and happy memories! My wife and I planned this holiday for almost a year and we constantly made contact with Karl regarding travel arrangements, shuttle services, places to see etc. Karl is absolutely the best host! Our accommodation was sufficient for my small family and the room was clean, tidy and... More

Staying in Ottakring

Neighborhood Profile
Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
