I was there with 18 students, on a school trip. The hotel is clean and confortable, and the personnel are helpful and obliging. The breakfast is abundant and varied. Not in the city center, but public transportation is excellent in Vienna The only bad point was the dinner: too little food! We were always hungry at the end of the... More

I was here on business based on a recommendation by a colleague and unfortunately not pleased by my stay. The bathroom smelled like moisture, the adjustable shower head could not hold up high (so I had to duck down each time I showered). The breakfast buffet was full of people in their 20's which were very loud, and it was... More

I was at this hotel in 2011. The location is great, you have the tram station in front of the hotel, bus station near by, you can get in the center in 10-15 minutes. The rooms are clean and beautiful.Breakfast was ok, the staff polite. I recommend this hotel. I was here in 2011

The Senator Hotel is a great accommodation to stay if you plan to visit Vienna. It is appropriate for a short-time stay as well as a long time city tour, for couples and families with children. The breakfast was very nice and the staff just great. For a more detailed review of the hotel please visit my travel blog: http://bit.ly/1AkwR1F... More

I stayed at the Senator hotel with my family for 9 nights around Christmas and I can say that it is one of the best hotels I have stayed at! We had booked a family room for 3 people which was spacious, modern and very clean. So was the bathroom. There is a safe and a fridge (but not mini-bar)... More

A very good 3-star hotel in good location with convenient public transport. I was told no need to book for garage space but it had one spot left when we entered. We parked and used tram 43 to go into the city which runs every 5-10 minutes(depending on the day and time) and takes 11 minutes to the town hall,... More

I've stayed in this hotel for several times and was always very satisfied. But not this time. At 7.30 maids were talking and making noise with bottles at the front of my door. As this is a trainee hotel in the restaurant was a lot of young staff who instead of paying attention if guests need something was talking to... More

Pros - tram out the front, clean, neat, good service. Breakfast included. Cons - comparative rates in the old city which is a much nicer area and the hotels are just as nice. Its a much better experience and feel being close to all that Vienna offers. Have to buy a transport ticket to catch the tram in and out... More

Staying in Ottakring

Neighborhood Profile
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
