It's more an hostel than a hotel, the access is by card and the reception open from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Perfect location for city break with basic comfort. Rooms and bathroom are clean and staff are pleasant and helpful. Nearby is tram station but can walk 15 mjn to down town . I have a pleasant stay and I hope... More

In the reservation confirmation (email) it said the reception would be open from 8 till 18. That turned out to be wrong! You can't get into the building from 11 till 14 at all unless you already have a key. Would have been nice to know that fact before! Telling the lady at the reception that they should change this... This hotel offers the basics that you seek in a capital city. Relatively well located, the cleanliness is decent. Free WiFi, but no fridges in all the rooms. Modern meets old Viennese building, but the breakfast is nothing special.

The entrance to the pension is shared with some private apartments and back entrance of the restaurant, so it was a bit dinghy. Once you get to the pension floor a floor up, it's really nice. The room was clean and wifi easy to access. The location is good. There are coffee shops, bakeries and Spur convenience store nearby, Public... More

We had really pleasant stay in City Rooms. Pension is really close to the U-bahn. Staff was very helpful and cheerful. Breakfast was great (not include in prize, but definitely worth 10€) Will come back for sure!

I was really pleasantly surprised with this hotel, considering the fact it was one of the cheapest places I could find in Vienna. Everything was very clean and new, comfortable bed, quiet location, 10 minutes from the metro station, just next to the tram stop and pretty near the city center. We did not arrive within the working hours but... More

Guests can take the rooms at 14:00, however we arranged our arrival to 13:00 and they agreed to give us the keys at 13:00. Unfortunately they forgot about it, so we had to phone them and wait 30 minues to get our room. Beside this there were no other problems, the room was nice and clean and the location was... More

Nice hotel, although it's more of a pension occupying 3 floors of the building it's in. The entry hall to the pension was a little bit unwelcoming, but otherwise the rest of the hotel was in very good shape. The rooms were the best I've seen for a pension, looking like that of a 4 star hotel, very spacious and... More

The rooms are good for a short stay, but be aware that the reception is not always open (I think only 8-11 and 2-5pm) Other posts also criticize this, therefore I planned my arrival thoroughly. Checked in September 2014 and the reception times are still that short. To the owners: there are key vending machines which dispense a chipcard with... More

The best thing about this hotel is its wireless internet service, which is free of charge and runs flawlessly with no need for annoying browser logins every time you connect. The rooms are also nice, if only a bit small, but comfortable enough. Breakfast is glorious. It is a pity that the reception closes at 5 pm and if you... More

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
