Its a small hotel in this beautiful Salzburg. Its definately well maintained and with a bunch of helpful staff...Remember the lady at the reception lending us all umberallas as it was a wet day...Its a 20 mins walf from here to the old city but its in quiet neighborhood. They have a small bfast room with limited menu. Wifi is... More

The beds at this hotel were among the most comfortable I have tried. The staff are friendly, speak very good English and the hotel is very quaint and cute, but I would not call it a 4 star. Had they claimed 3 I would have called it great, but for a 4 stars less so. Old carpet everywhere and it... More

The hotel is located about 600 metres from Salzburg main train station. It is also about a 20 minute walk to the Old town (Alstadt) and you pass through the Mirabelle gardens as well as the Opera House. The location is great especially if you arrive by train. The service in the hotel is also pretty good. Breakfast was included... More

They took my things out of my room more than a half hour before check out. I went out in the morning and came back at 10:30am to shower and check out. My things were in the lobby of the hotel, and no one was around. Anyone could have walked off with my laptop. I didn't get to double check... More

It is an absolute NO FRILLS Hotel... The advantage: Conveniently located and an amazingly helpful Reception. The hotel it seemed is family owned, with a tough owner. Absolutely no Frills....The restaurant only served a simple breakfast ( No other eats available during the day). But cant help but mention that the staff was very courteous and helpful. Very pleasant to... More

A welcome change from large hotel chains. Had a character all of its own and the staff were very helpful and polite. Just a pity there was no tea or coffee making facility in the room. Referred us to a very pleasant local restaurant

We had booked another hotel for our family of four (parents and teens, ages 16 and 19) but when we arrived, the other hotel had cancelled our reservation. My son found the Scherer Hotel online and they were a big help. As "Only Joe" wrote, the decor in the lobby is a bit dated and funky, but the front desk... More

...but I found this place to be somewhat charming. We had stayed at the Intercontinental in Vienna so the bar had been set fairly high. I was a little worried when we first walked into the pink lobby and saw the electric green velour sofa and palm print carpet. The décor is dated but somewhat funky in a good way.... More

We were booked to stay at another Salzburg Hotel but got shifted due to a problem with room availability. That hotel booked us into the Scherer and told us 'its another 4-star hotel'. A cab ride to the other side of town and found it was not near anything at all, turns out 30mins walk to get back to the... More

Stayed one night and rented two rooms for our family of four (2 adults/2 teens). Rooms were nice and clean, but the best was the view from our rooms-right on the lake. Another bonus was the free breakfast-great assortment of foods and beautiful restaurant with lake views as well. We are very thankful for the front office, who stayed up... More
