A welcome change from large hotel chains. Had a character all of its own and the staff were very helpful and polite. Just a pity there was no tea or coffee making facility in the room. Referred us to a very pleasant local restaurant

We had booked another hotel for our family of four (parents and teens, ages 16 and 19) but when we arrived, the other hotel had cancelled our reservation. My son found the Scherer Hotel online and they were a big help. As "Only Joe" wrote, the decor in the lobby is a bit dated and funky, but the front desk... More

...but I found this place to be somewhat charming. We had stayed at the Intercontinental in Vienna so the bar had been set fairly high. I was a little worried when we first walked into the pink lobby and saw the electric green velour sofa and palm print carpet. The décor is dated but somewhat funky in a good way.... More

We were booked to stay at another Salzburg Hotel but got shifted due to a problem with room availability. That hotel booked us into the Scherer and told us 'its another 4-star hotel'. A cab ride to the other side of town and found it was not near anything at all, turns out 30mins walk to get back to the... More

Stayed one night and rented two rooms for our family of four (2 adults/2 teens). Rooms were nice and clean, but the best was the view from our rooms-right on the lake. Another bonus was the free breakfast-great assortment of foods and beautiful restaurant with lake views as well. We are very thankful for the front office, who stayed up... More

I stayed here for one night with my daughter last week. We were sent here by taxi from the hotel we were supposed to be in as they had a problem with a coach full of guests overstaying because of a broken down coach. Hotel is quite basic but clean with a nice breakfast. It is fairly near the main... More

Dear Madam with Daughter, First of all we thank you for your time. Unfortunately the Hotel were you were originally confirmed was not able to accommodate you and your daughter. We got your reservation in the last moment. Sorry for your inconveniences and your trouble with the relocation caused by another place. With your hurting leg it was not easy... More

Hotel Scherer was a great way to start our European vacation. Our well-appointed room was quiet, very clean and had a picturesque view. The beds were extremely comfortable with "good night" chocolates placed on the pillows. The staff was very accommodating starting with Michelle who gave us a warm welcome, shared interesting information about Salzburg and recommended great locals' favorite... More

First of all the good news, clean friendly hotel, modern rooms good breakfast etc. ...but they are grossly overcharging for wifi for one device. In 2014 wifi should be like water from the tap...free. If that is a problem put the price of the room up, but do not 'Ryanair' me. I saw some very frustrated young people on a... More

This is a lovely hotel and about a 20mt walk from the main tourist area. The beds are comfortable I found the room very warm even with the window open There is no AC. My room was on the first floor at the front which got quite noisy when the coaches were warming up their engines. Breakfast was fresh and... More
